Rotating textures

Hi there. Firstly I'd just like to say that I think the Dark Mod looks great! I can't wait for the official release. You guys are doing an ace job.

Anyway, this is probably going to be a bit of a noob question. Unfortunately I fear it could be the first of many. But if you wouldn't mind just humouring me that would be great. I'm trying to create some beams for a ceiling and I want the texture to go horizontal so it looks like one long piece of wood. Like the side of a door frame but rotated 90 degrees. At the moment it just looks like lots of small pieces of wood side by side. I've gone into the surface inspector and played around with the buttons but don't seem to be getting any results.

Thanks in advance for any help.

In surface inspector there is a rotation value. This is the current position of a surface. On its right is a step value for the rotation. Make sure that is at 90 for this operation (assuming your beams are horizontal.) If it wasn't at 90 and your beam texture is at odd angles then click the natural button first before proceeding.

Select the surface(s) you want to rotate and then click the right or left arrow button against rotation. That will rotate the texture by the degrees shown in the step value.

If you have angled beams then of course you need to change the step value and then gradually keep clicking and watch it rotate until it aligns if it is an odd angle. Of course if it is 45 degrees then just set 45 as the step.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
