Generally, yes, but you could try to find out if your gc resides on a MXM module. There are rare cases where a gc in a laptop can be swapped.

My Eigenvalue is bigger than your Eigenvalue.

Yeah, this would be the safest way, unless you have some good documentation for your laptop. Or check the internet, like searching for your model and keywords like MXM or "replace graphics card".

This was (?) one of the more interesting problems (and I'm sure most irritating for Hypevosa!)...

Any news?

Nothing... I really really want to play TDM too, but I can't do anything.

I've said before the only real clue is that the things that are super imposed over what's rendered in the game (the readables, the little hints, etc) are unaffected, and it's not a glitch I get playing doom 3. So it's specifically something in the code of TDM itself that's clashing with my videocard.

The only thing I can think of that might be your salvation is the interaction.vfp shader. TDM uses a much, much better shader than the original D3 (with just about no performance hit), but you might be able to reach into "Doom 3/base/pak000.pk4/glprogs" and use doom 3's original interaction.vfp shader in place of "darkmod/glprogs/interaction.vfp".

1) Copy the "pak000.pk4" from your Doom3 Base folder to a safe location

2) Use WinRAR or 7zip to unzip the file

3) Inside the unzipped folder you will find a glprogs sub-directory

4) Inside this sub-directory you will find Doom 3's native interaction.vfp file

5) Copy this file to a location that you will easily remember

6) I believe that the base01.pk4 in your darkmod folder will have the same glprogs folder in it so...

7) copy the base01.pk4 to a safe location

8) extract the pk4 using WinRAR et al.

9) replace the interaction.vfp in the base01\glprogs sub-folder with the one from Doom 3 (step 5)

10) Zip the contents of the extracted base01.pk4

11) renamed the zipped file to whatever the base01.pk4 was named

12) Copy this file into your darkmod folder (overwrite the existing file)

(someone at home will have to confirm the actual filename, base01.pk4 is a guess... but you could just keep extracting pk4's till you find the one with glprogs...)

(the wiki instructions say you only need to rename the one in the darkmod pk4 so these instructions are the double-excessive version)

Not quite, mister nbohr, you don't want to override all of the shaders.

1) Go to your darkmod folder.

2) Create a directory called "glprogs"

3) Open up Doom 3/base/pak000.pk4 using WinRAR or another zipping program.

4) Find the pk4's subdirectory "/glprogs"

5) Copy the file interaction.vfp from "pak000.pk4/glprogs" to "darkmod/glprogs".

Now that .vfp will override the regular darkmod shader.

If it's still "warping", toggle the "Interaction Shader" in your Dark Mod Settings.

Hey, can this be applied to a specific FMS by creating a glprogs sub-directory in the FMS sub-directory in your Doom 3 folder... similar to creating FMS specific autoexec.cfg files (I presume yes)? :) ???

Is this where you downloaded your drivers from?

Intel Graphics Driver

...also

Have you tried disabling Aero or Explorer before launching TDM?

Another "way too expensive" option:

Toms Hardware ViDock Review

...but if you can find another external express card docking station...

To Kill Windows Explorer

1) Control - Alt - Delete

2) Task-manager appears

3) Processes Tab

4) Right-Click "explorer.exe"

5) Then Click File

6) New Task (Run)

7) Browse

8) Navigate to your TDM Launcher

10) Click OK

Now you will be running Windows without windows explorer active... (to re-enable simply type explorer.exe in the same "New Task (Run)" dialog box from step 6)

I would also try disabling as many graphic options as possible via cvar

1) Set your Folder Options to show common file extensions

2) Create a file named autoexec.cfg

3) Set as many options off as possible

(example: seta r_skipBump "1" )

More cvar details at: Modwiki CVAR list

4) Save this file to the specific FMS sub-folder you're testing (Outpost, correct?)

5) Copy this autoexec.cfg to your darkmod folder as well

6) edit the autoexec.cfg in your darkmod folder to turn all to options back on

(example: seta r_skipBump "0")

(that way every time you launch TDM without a mission installed, it will return to default settings...)

If this fixes your warping issue, then keep re-enabling options 'till you find the one that causes the problem...

(hopefully a benign effect rather than something that really ugly-fies TDM like no normal maps... )

What resolution are your running?

Perhaps the Intel Driver intercepts the listed resolution cvar and is confused by the 1280x720 bug?

Found it:

Mobility Electronics Easidock 1000EV has a Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB

Lowest Price at Amazon.com is around $30

EasiDock 1000EV

(Probably (?) slower than your integrated intel but better drivers...)

Magma was indeed the partner to Mobility Electronics (back in the day) so you might be able to find a used PCMCIA to PC chassis from them on eBay (etc)...

(ooh, you might need an Express Card to PCMCIA adapter as well  ...)

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
