Afternoon

Just borrowed my makes PS3 to play "The Last of Us" and even after a few hours of play time I find the dual shock controller utterly abhorent means of control for a 1/3rd person shooter/sneaker. So I have purchased n EagleEye Keyboard/.mouse convertor for the PS3 and from all the reviews with the latest firmware (3.0) its supposed to be very close to a PC in terms of control and experience.

I am aware there will be some setup required to get the best our of it, but considering how much I hate the hand controller I dont mind at all.

My experience with those converters has been disappointing. The absolute position of a joystick is interpreted as an acceleration value that's capped by the physical bounds of the well it resides. Trying to map a mouse to those inputs is like putting training wheels on. You want to whip around quickly and the game won't let you.

You come to realize it's not a hardware problem so much as a software problem. They've got USB ports. They just don't use them. I can only think of three games that had native k&m support and they were all ports that originated on PC; Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, and Half-Life 2.

When I was living in Florida, one of my roomates had an Xbox and coming from PC I absolutely despised controllers and hated using it however I did eventually out of boredom start playing Call of Duty on it and after 4 or 5 levels of frustration I was finally feeling pretty at home on the controller though it does away with much of the immersion you get from using a mouse because of the rotating motion being bound to controller stick acceleration (left to right motion).

It took a while but it finally was rewarding to play and use a controller and that's all we had at the time, but if I had both PC/console in the same location, I'd probably just avoid touching the console altogether. Its a whole relearn on your gaming movement skills.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
