What The D3 Engine Can Do...

Take a look at these shots. Might be useful to have these on hand the next time someone says the D3 engine can only do dark corridors.

IT's the guys who designed, built and textured the level plus the other guys who've work on water etc who've 'done it', not the Doom engine. Of course it's capable of a lot if you put a lot of hard work into it, the renderer is the best on the market.

Well obviously I didn't mean the engine does the work. :) But there is a large contingent of people out there who don't think it's possible to create scenes like those with the D3 engine.

It looks quite good, but I miss some proper stained glass textures.

Also, it's not intended to be a playable map as it's far too high-poly. More like a walkthrough, but I doubt it could ever be playable with monsters on most people's machines.

So, as a level it obviously doesn't work too well. And as an architectural 3D visualisation of a cathedral - I've seen better.

Still, that shot does look quite atmospheric.

This one is pretty old, but for the people who haven't seen it yet:

Not right now, but in two years when we're done the mod, something like that could be very playable.

He's given us permission to use the resources too, so I'm in the process of adding the rock and tree models to our collection.

Wow, that looks so good, absolutely tramples TDS!! :o I've got to get my new system together, I've just begun paying on a layway for a 160 gig Seagate harddrive. Hopefully when I get my hands on that I can hurry up and get a processer/OM and get my new system together so I can get back to learning Radiant! B)

I dont fear the dark...the dark fears me!

That really is pretty goddamned amazing, both in how it looks and this guy's design prowess. A hell of a lot of detail in that map, professional (and beyond) quality, and it looks incredible. AND, it runs great too, somehow - from the perspective of a 1.4 GHz machine, even. And I love the cathedral as well.

This hints at really good possibilities for TDM maps. :)

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
