  1. Well, you can not force everybody to read everything. Much less remember it.
  2. Because it checks the key. It doesn't have any consequences if that is not possible. If you have a firewall you can block D3 and then you can enter any valid number you like. As Stifu said, it might be that somebody uses your key (assuming you have a valid key).
  3. The CD key is only relevant for multiplayer gaming.
  4. Don't worry. There will be no dialogues, because we are not doing a mission at the moment.
  5. Nope. Index means that there is an absolute sales prohibition on it. That's why they made the rating now. To avoid putting games on Index. Instead they are rated now 18+ and then they are not allowed to do regular advertising, but you can still buy them and order them. For indexed games you are not even allowed to do that. Isn't it nice, when you have a Big Brother who looks after you?

    Thief 4

I have no problems admitting that. Don't know where you got that idea from. In fact I also even read children books sometimes, if I enjoy them. There are some which are still fun to read, even though they are targeted for children. I justify it, because it mean it, which is quite a difference. Since I don't play professionally hockey, only as a hobby, I only have one hour per week for actual training. And yes, it helps a bit to play hockey on the playstation, see how the strategies are implemented, try some things, and then try them on the ice when we have training again. For the same reason even professionals watch videos, which is not THAT different as well, which I try also to do. Only problem there is that you don't get to much videos, because most reports only show the goal sequences, and not much else beside it. I already asked our local icehockey team if they wouldn't consider to release their videos for a small fee, because they record their plays anyway for training purposes. This is just one example, where a computer game actually help me, but I'm sure there are others as well, if I bother to think about it. After all, it's just another source of information, just like other medias.
  7. If you got caught by some virus or trojan, it might be a good idea to NOT install that porn access software again, that got it to you in the first place.

    Thief 4

Now that is really an amazing insight! Unfortunately I was not talking about sports stars, but normal people like me, who can't afford to hire coaches for big money. And yes, you can indeed learn quite a lot from a computer game as well. They are what you make of it. Of course a nihilist and misanthrop like you has to say such stuff, so there is not really any surprise there. Just parroting what your philosophy tells you to.

    Thief 4

I was more thinking along the line of sports games and the strategy involved (not the actual skills required for the sport itself). Thief doesn't really teach you anything usefull IMO. Which doesn't mean that it's not fun though.

Depends on what you play. Some games can teach you skills, that you can use in actual situations as well.

Gamewise HL2 was average at best. What it did really well though was to draw you into the story. Espcielly the beginning was pretty good. Worked quite well for me.

    Thief 4

No, but they care about the end result. And the end result is a direct consequence of the limitations, the developers have to work with. Actually I predecited some of the limitations, based on observations of the game itself, and knowing how developers in such projects work. Well, if the gameplay is strongly influenced by the limitations of the engine, then of course the success is also based on the engine. The developers said several times that they often couldn't do what they intended, because of those limitations. If you have a good engine and you screw up the gameplay it's one thing. If you have a crappy engine to being with, it's quite another. Of course most people wont see the engine as a seperate issue, and just think that TDS is bad, no matter the reasons. And rightly so, because players shouldn't care about the internal details of a game.

    Thief 4

Are there so many Thief 4 threads on TTLG that they are already spilling over?
  14. We discussed this quite early in the design process, and decided against it.
  15. Happy new year to all of you!
  16. That's right. Of course you would have to find somebody who could add the new engine into the existing framework, so that it works as before without to much changes.
  17. You know, the only reason why we are not finished is, because every half year, there is a new engine coming out, and we tend to switch to it immediatly, because it's so much cooler then the old one. If we ever get finished, you will have the newest and coolest engine to play with. It's a bit hard to keep up with the coding though ...
  18. It certainly seems to fit with Oddity.
  19. Wow! I didn't know that Wolfenstein 3D was even done in Doom 3. Is this a new mod or what? Never heard about it before.
  20. Yeah, I was not sure wether this was a problem with my browser or a general problem (which I was more inclined to think). So I hoped that at least modetwo will see it and do something about it, if it was really a general problem.
  21. Hmmm! Seems it works now again. Don't know what it was.
  22. I can't read any topics any more. I can see the main menu of the forum and I can click on the boards, but when I try to open a thread to read it, or open my PMs then I just get a blank screen. If this gets posted, then at least I can post, but answering is probably not usefull, because I can't read it. Any ideas whats wrong? If you have any suggestions what the problem might be, contact me at sparhawk@gmx.at
  23. Considering your signature, this is a pretty strange statement to make. Mabye you forgot about it?
