  1. There's certain aspects of the game which are fun in a basic form I thought. There's a particular gun, the LR3000 that is silenced and has an attached scope that the description says is intended to be a mass produced cheap sniper rifle alternative. I had a ton of fun with this gun, for some reason it just just great
  2. Actually it's true, I have the box the instruction manual and everything, I can even post a pic if you really don't believe me.
  3. Well say you want to cycle through a list of particles to see what they are so you can put some in your level. Currently there is no way to do that in the editor, but it sounds like that is what is far from being implemented, so as long as it's on the To-do-list I'm happy
  4. Well, you'd be stretching it to say that videogames are a form of education, but I suppose the same goes with movie, as most movies embellish the truth. It's clear that video games are more involving mentally that TV or plays ect, but books I would have to say are on the same level or above. When you read a book you are being drawn into it, I rarely get drawn into a videogame. If you are playing a videogame to escape your problems, whether that be problems at work, family problems, social problems then yes, I'd agree with oDDity it is a form of escapism, but when your someone like me who just gets bored and decides to play a videogame for 30 mins of the day, I see nothing wrong with that, it's the same level as watching TV for me. It's the classic, 'this is what's wrong with society' argument just moved on to a more modern piece of technology. Just like a couch potato, if your spending 6 hours a day on WoW then yes, you may have some issues Now hows about that cd key oddity
  5. Is there currently a way to view what a sprite looks like in action without having to make the map compile it and play it? If not I think it would be a worth while feature to look into.

    Nevermore!

I cannot wait to see this working in-game
  7. For some maybe, but I just consider them entertainment like television If your not using your STALKER game can you pm me the CD key because even though I bought the game from EB games the cd key says it's invalid for multiplayer play
  8. Yea I've beat the game about 4 times start to finish now actually lol. What is amazing is everytime I play through it, I explore what I feel to be all I can explore, and everytime I find something new, like an area I missed last time. The first time I played through I got the money-ending, and I thought that was the 'real' ending, then I read about the one you mentioned, I was stunned to find I missed so much. The things I really like about the game are the environments, the inventory system [i love organizing my items before a mission], and the labs. I just felt the labs were really cool, I loved all the ambient sounds and stuff they stuck in there and the special affects. I also love the customizable weapons and the fire-fights. It sounds like Clear Skies is taking the HUGE amount of problems into consideration and fixing them though, and that should make for an extremely awesome game Some things I think that would have made the game vastly better are more customizable weapons/suits, better story/English translation/full voice acting/purposeful missions (other than the main mission which was good) and a larger array of ammunition types to choose from. I even think it would have been funner if you had the option to make specific types of magazines, like half full of explosive ammunition and half full of regular.
  9. I liked STALKER for the simple fact that it had huge environments to explore. Nothing was ever the same in it, unlike games like Oblivion which a lot of areas look the same as previous ones. But the bugs are really really annoying and the lack of thought out gameplay mechanics makes a lot of the stuff you do feel very pointless. Regardless, I will get the add on being released this year
  10. Yea the box where you type stuff in which also functions as a dropdown list. Perhaps we should have an option to disable the auto-completion, because I never use it anyways and it really slows things down when maps get larger.
  11. I have an itch with the editor. When you have a lot of entities and you make one target another it takes a long time to load up the target list, even if you don't want it, if you want to just type stuff in.

    Nevermore!

OHHhh this is awesome! We need a canary too for coal tunnels and such!
  13. Yea, as much as I'd like to believe it. I refuse to acknowledge this as the actual TRUE story until I see it on a academic/scholarly website or on a news station on tv or the radio. The internet is still full of half-truths and lies which we seem to periodically forget.
  14. Well actually, it just occurred to me that Microsoft DID compensate all the customers who had a failing system. This is a fairly good recovery from a PR stance, and they didn't have this making headlines on CNN or anything big like that. Also good PR. They must have a kick ass PR department
  15. yea I love business It's really useful when you start getting into the upper level courses. You will learn to be really good at doing presentations and public speaking. However the lower level courses like 2nd and 1st year seem almost pointless, but they are actually a good foundation for your 3rd and 4th year levels. I'm actually excited about going into the masters program after I'm done my degree!
  16. I don't know about that. It certainly presents some major issues with their business practice which may actually affect their stock prices due to their unethical behavior. Too bad their basically a monopoly This would be a VERY interesting case to do a report on for one of my business classes
  17. I could understand winter because of the lack of sunlight. You'd get a lot of good dark playing in . But honestly I end up just playing thief at night if I'm in the mood
  18. haha I will have to give it a download then
  19. Mainly because they don't take the time to properly optimize their maps and models. I bet if you spent the time to go through it, and take out everything that didn't need to be rendered, like rooftops, the back of models that you can never see ect ect you could increase the speed 1.5x
  20. I've had a lot of problems with my card, it's the same as yours. I've had to return it and get a new one 3 times now, luckily futureshop is really generous when it comes to returns The thing really loves to overheat, despite my new fan. One time I even had a similar issue to the one described on this thread, I got a new GPU and it cleared the problem right up, so I don't know what the issue was really, I just guessed it was something wrong with the card.
  21. I'm not sure what exactly MS is hoping to accomplish with their latest software packages [MS office 07 and Vista]. All my profs use MS office 03, because 07 runs to slow, and they don't understand the weird way everything is setup. The layout was easier in my opinion in 03 than in 07, I don't like having all these drop down lists and tabs ect ect. As for Vista, my brother switched to vista, and he actually switched back to XP, he isn't one to be persuaded to do something like that to easily, but after going back to XP he said everything runs far better. It almost seems as if MS's marketing team only wanted to attack Apple's good looks, so they sacrificed everything else in order to do so. I think they should have released something like XP plus, that looks just like Vista, but doesn't have the performance kills in it like Vista. Isn't the goal of an operating system to do basic functions and get the job done, EFFICIENTLY? And what's with Direct X 10? Why bother?
  22. The gameplay takes a little while to get used too, but it is somewhat addicting after a while.
  23. For some reason I've been getting this weird thing happening in the 3d view since getting my 22" monitor. Right now I'm using two monitors, and only using 1 with DR [meaning i have it full in 1 monitor]. Here's a picture of what is happening, it changed with what I select, if I select the obvious weird looking brush, and move the camera, it stops making the strange affect. It is just a flat brush. It changes distortion as the camera moves.

    Thief 4

I'd have to agree, HL2 just didn't do it for me to be honest. I was a huge fan of HL1, it was the first game I had ever seen combine a great story with a fps and incorporate cut-scenes where you could move around.
