  1. If they make these magical changes, I think it only backs up just how worried they are. Maybe they'll start a trend, but... yeah who knows. Pretty sure they're just changing tune in interviews as a result of the lack in preorders (the absolute bane of modern games, along with paid beta/alpha).
  2. From the sounds of it, this requires use of the closed steam library stuff. Then again I got bored after about 3 pages of legalese. I guess you could stub it all, but then we're also tying ourselves to a duplicate system (which is also pretty much out of our control as to how its managed). Double the work to maintain. Remember: Steam doesn't run everywhere.
  3. I seem to remember in the past similar errors have been the result of corrupt files. Could you run the updater again, it will check the files and fetch any that are damaged.
  4. The panel maxed looks like it's doing some texture transcoding, or perhaps just different AF. The CSAA is just destroying the texture resolution, I think it's getting really confused by the alpha channel use. If you have an overlay attached to the TDM window, it might also have some influence. Either way, that texure isnt exactly good quality -- it is very rough between the stones. It's an interesting texture, but the normalmap has not been blended very well around the rocks, and the mortar is far too flat. In the past I have tried to fix it a few times, but never found a nice middle ground which respects the original enough, while looking better. At the end of the day, CSAA should not be causing the texture to look this way. The texture needs work, more than anything else.
  5. Thank you chedap and maga! I, too, fell victims to those barrels. They are a new addition to 2.0, and will need a little bit of clipping to make them mantle nicely. I forgot all about them, I know some other people got stuck in a barrel (tho you can actually get out of them fairly easily once you understand how to mantle ) Chedap, I agree that the swinging area could use with a more linear progression. While I like the stairs that have been added in 2.0, I also feel that it could make people just bypass the area. Will need to think about that one. Good work finding the arrows, that said, there are still more hidden away Thank you both for the feedback. So important to get this stuff right, even more-so than most games which have entirely linear training areas. Much appreciated
  6. Feel free to record some good quality eating sounds But yeah, also remember just how quickly food goes stale, and how most cheese would have a pretty hard rind unless you had a cheese-room or similar (as I seem to recall from some Docu). Expensive stuff to keep well.
  7. Wow - Thank you very much Zone Tripper, that is excellent feedback. A lot of ideas there, very nice and realistic I will sift through the post now and add the more buggy topics to the OP. The more idea-y things I'll leave in place, but I already have a few thoughts on how to add a door-listening example.
  8. I'm throwing all of this stuff away in my current work, soooo it shouldnt be a problem in the future. Sound will be /fairly/ different, but a lot more standardized/ Just a matter of spending another 3-4 days sitting merging and fixing things. It's pretty shit work no lies, but it's not something that can be done with teamwork sadly. I really wish we had held off the gpl version merge, so much extra work to revert.
  9. Could this be one of those magical readables that were pointed out in another thread?
  10. PA would pretty much never be supported directly, however it works fine via OpenAL-soft, which I plan to sort out soonish.
  11. Could you zip/rar the file first, then attach it or upload it elsewhere and link it? These problems can occur, and the save really helps tracking them down.
  12. Oh awesome guys I contacted the author to say we liked his work and appreciated it etc. He seems nice. Seems TDM isnt alone in the 'nice people' department. (Also the nicest French person I've ever got mail from!)
  13. I haven't seen those yet, hmmm! Are there pics? I'm super sleepy, searching is way too much to ask of me right this minute
  14. This is already possible, however be warned that it is not something that is maintained or tested, if there are problems or things look strange, its really unlikely that they will be fixed. Third person is really just not supported. However, you can try opening the console and putting in 'pm_thirdperson 1'. If its completely unusable, it wouldn't surprise me But give it a try.
  15. Most of the textures look a bit too clean (and people have said mine are too clean!) - But I agree, there is a lot of potential for those too, I'd like to use some, adapt some into more TDM-ified textures if possible.
  16. I forgot to actually post the video link :/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmJIgRMjHWs
  17. Hey there, While I was getting on with real life a few months ago, I stumbled over an artist who is both really good with game art, and gives it away free on opengameart. I then forgot that I had bookmarked it for TDM. Anyway, some of his stuff would fit perfectly into TDM, some could do with a little less tropical looks. Licensed under public domain they would be at home in TDM (Tho attribution would be good! his stuff *is* good). http://opengameart.org/users/yughues http://nobiax.deviantart.com/ Thought I'd put that in here.
  18. ... That looks mighty legit. Now if you would just send me your CC details in PM, I will hook you up with a pair of real X-Ray Glasses. Hurry before someone else gets the last pair! Feel like nuGarr3t without even leaving the safety of your secret clock-tower penthouse.
  19. Heh, sure I think it's just a lot of time between when the sound API stuff was done, and modern Windows. I am not entirely sure how this works with some changes I want to look into, but I will keep an eye out. As for workarounds, to me this sounds like it's at the API level, so I'm not sure that there would be any. I think that the use of extra speakers is just allowing the OS level mixer to expand the stereo again, which may or may not sound better depending on implementations on that side (A big guess, but I think you would find there is quite a lot of extra sound coming out of the directional channels).
  20. A while back I made a nice little box, lined up builders and guards - different teams for you guys. Watching it from above brought back made me think back to lunch breaks at junior school, Red Rover. Fond memories.
  21. Your journey to The City will be long, but when you are there -- perhaps if you ask the Wizard nicely enough -- you may find a brain.
  22. Great strawman at a glance. 8/10 for effort.
  23. Is it a specific old entity or something? Could make something automated to fix them if they are in other maps?
  24. Thanks for the report - will need to be clipped off or reworked
