It is not only about curiosity.

It seemed to be a topic people wanted to discuss, there was a clear need for it.

Also, the styles were interesting. Some down-to-earth, some clearly satisfying a craving for the feeling of intellectual superiority, or simply the joy for the opportunity of self-expression.

And then there is the personality dimension...

Fascinating how a general pretext for discussion opened a Brownian motion-like flow of discussion that has brought us to this point. Why exactly here? Where would we go if we did this again later? Does it matter, because sometimes the journey is more important than the destination?

I do not think intellicence helps one to get out of a rut of misery.

At least I have observed some really smart people being as stuck (or worse) than mere commoners.

I suppose it depends on your definition of intelligence. I know some Mensa folks that really don't have a clue.

Of course mostly sane people are accountable for their actions. But it is easy to tell (or wish) someone to change. They can silently hate themselves for being what they are, and when they hate themselves, they cannot love others. Changing yourself is a very difficult, if not impossible, task. Once the milk is on the floor, you can never, ever, get every single droplet back into the bottle. You just pick up the stuff you can but you never will have the bottle full again... Unless you get a fr...

But everything has a reason. Their hatred can have just and rational origin. They may have been victims of cruelty that you have never been exposed to, or otherwise been traumatized. The hate comes from their incompleteness and they never had the same chance to be whole like you did. How can you judge them? Trying to understand may bring rewards, or their insanity may be infectious...

And why are you concerned over the limitations of other people?

You can only repair your own boat.
