  1. Hi, can you add EFX to St. Lucia?

  2. With my workload finally decreasing and having to stay at home far longer than I planned for this spring, I think I'll try to find more time for TDM as well. For the time being, I want to work on those audio projects.

  4. I currently don't have Internet at home and I'm rather busy, but I'll be back soon. Wishing you guys and gals all the best and I hope you're having a nice summer. :-) Wait for me, I won't be long.

Thanks for the consolation. It only remains to see for how much longer can we survive this way.

It is sad that the rationale of limiting guns to civilians also extends to pepper sprays and other non-lethal tools of self-defense. And by the time that happens like for example in the UK, nobody will be able to stop it. Moreover to stop the Westerminster attack.

No offense but he seems to know what he's talking about but his conclusions are similar to Snowden and Assange.

In short, we believe it will take time to have common sense gun rights like Switzerland and the Czech Republic as normal rights recognized in most free liberal democracies without too much zeal like in the US. But that will happen by the time spirits calm down in the US. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Wouldn't want to clog the forum with many threads.

      T. Jefferson is known to be a slave owner so his ideas did not age well.

The central category of gun rights is the idea that in a true liberal democracy guns should not be taken away on a popular opinion swing. That's what populism is built on.

In general, the problem with gun ban advocates is that they point to studies that fail to capture the big picture.

Here's a study that illustrates what would this big picture look like: Life is too short to waste it in clarifying how glorious our police should be: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4340604/

      *minority.

Life is too short to waste it in clarifying how glorious our police should be. Nobody owes nothing to anybody. I learned the hard way that if someone gets beaten in the street it's often not worth it to intervene because we're not super heroes. Owning a gun is just for your personal safety. Nothing less, nothing more.

Final example. You know how in Europe Roma people are always discriminated? Everyone says they defecate in people's gardens and whatnot. Well, they don't have that in the US because of the Castle Doctrine. Everybody knows that there are consequences for intruding in someone's home. And it's logical. Tolerance and best cosmic friends forever until you invade my home. Why should we think about the safety of the perpetrator when we did nothing wrong? Even if our target is a minor...

I absolutely admire btw how well things work in Germany... Including the institutional capacity to deport migrants. Haha. But, I imagine your conception about gun laws and self defense is not just rooted in Kant's theory (very engaging) but also the post WW2 mentality. However, there is nothing wrong with exercising every step needed for your safety. I don't believe it's a healthy extreme to ban guns.

The solution against rednecks is proper regulation, rule of law, medical checks, background checks and training, training, more training. Safety first.

My sincerest apologies, but I cannot understand why do you expect the police to care about us. If a terrorist attack/national emergency occurs - we have none to rely upon other than ourselves. We need guns for those situations.

Sorry but you cannot place a policeman near everyone. It takes a few seconds to kill someone/stab them/incapacitate them whereas it takes 5 or more minutes for police to arrive.

It is not the norm for Germany because you have rule of law. Not something that exists in Moldova for example.

Germany also does not have as many migrants as Italy (which recently passed common sense self defense laws).

What I don't understand is why we should look at gun violence statistics and not at overall violence and crime rates (which are higher in the US because any multicultural country is a breeding ground for crime, cultural, ethnic, religious conflicts and so on). Same goes for China, Russia, Mexico, India. Regardless of gun laws.

      There is no panacea.

It means that honest black citizens should not be hindered to have legal access to guns.

Again, considering that there is a Constitutional safeguard, it is impossible to change gun ownership rates.

Unfortunately statistics are often subjective things because they are rarely part of a serious Criminological study. Here I mean „the black number of crime”. Which means 80% of crimes and their true perpetrator is unknown. So it is all a vicious cycle of failing to understand how deep racism is actually a part of US history. That is exactly why hardcore Republican, poorest states like Mississippi are part of the problem.

If we talk about blacks having access to firearms. It...

I have the impression that violence in the US is more a racism issue than a gun issue.

You have liberal laws in Switzerland and the Czech Republic and everything is fine there somehow.
