  1. If this were a AAA game, you'd spent it all on marketing, fancy mocappers for all the cinematic QTE sequences and a dozen writers to write some "epic" story about gain and loss, love and hate, war and peace and stabbing people in the eye 'cause they're evil.
  2. Don't want to derail the topic, but I also don't feel like this is worth creating a new one: Speaking of doors, is it actually possible to steal keys from NPCs and locking them out of rooms the key is for? It'd just be realistic and what you'd expect. You got the only key, and the door is locked, so the AI without the key shouldn't get in. I know that I tried it with the priest in Tears of St. Lucia, but even though I got his key and locked the door from inside, he still got into the room no problem. Thinking about it I'd imagine there are a lot of potential problems this possibilty could create. How does the AI react? Where does it go? For some reason though I had the feeling it was this way in the original (T2 at least, haven't played much T1... those annoying zombies). Is that an oversight, a design choice, or simply something you considered and think is too difficult/impossible to implement?
  3. Second. The only steam account related problem I've ever had is that mine got hacked, and the support actually managed to get it back really quickly. As many people already pointed out, just because TDM is distributed via Steam, it doesn't mean you have to get it via Steam. And even then it doesn't even mean that you have to be online to play it. Regarding the overlay: I already play TDM via Steam and it works like a charme.
  4. I can't remember... but I *think* I was just browsing ModDB and 1.8 had just been released and it was featured in the banner... All I know is that I discovered it right after 1.8 release and that I'd been waiting to play it since then because I don't own Doom3, lurking the forums and picking up T2 again in the meantime.
  5. There is a button to display additional information about the mission, but the descriptions don't contain the same amount of information for all missions (I'm guessing it's displaying the readme.txt that comes along with a mission if there is one? Never bothered to check). For some missions it just displays basic info like title, author and build time, for others there actually are pictures and fluff text. I'm guessing it's more of a mapper's thing and if they choose to write a comprehensive description of their mission or not.
  6. Pretty much only Sir, You Are Being Hunted and the PC release of Deadly Premonition... I'm really not all that interested in modern games, especially AAA titles. I'm not sure whether that's because my Rig isn't powerful enough to run any of them, or that my PC sucks because I don't like those games... probably a bit of both. Also, something that I'm really looking forward to is a retranslation and Steam release of Pathologic... there were some hints that that's in the works on the Steam forums, but it's not clear whether that'll actually happen. Oh, and Hotline Miami 2.
  7. Playing Miasmata myself, pretty awesome game. Also Warzone 2100, OpenRA and Cossacks, Robin Hood, Men of War, and Ur-Quan Masters. Also ODT on PSX... way too much at the same time actually... and then there's still Space Rangers 2HD, Death to Spies... all the T2 FMs...
  8. Now, we all like stealth games I assume, and there's a new game that looks quite interesting. http://www.big-robot...e-being-hunted/ It seems to have a large focus on survival and exploration, also somewhat combat, but there is a stealth mechanic as well. It doesn't look as if it's gonna be anything close to TDM or Thief, but it has a really nice steam-punky setting as well. It's still being developed, and is available on Steam as early-access and is currently on sale for 10 bucks. Might be worth a buy. Anyone got it? Impressions?
  9. A thread about interesting music and (as far as I can tell) no Punk/Post-Punk/New Wave so far? Either I have a very strange taste in music, or all of that stuff is just too obscure (well, somone mentioned Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten and similar stuff before). The Fall Just two examples... they made over 20 studio albums (well, most of the stuff from after '86 isn't really that good... still a lot to check out, and they really went through some changes) From their first album '79 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CV3NOGGlQ4 From '86 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ex3zOcJcM0U Edit before posting: Well dang, how many media files am I allowed to post then? Edit after posting: Okay, I don't want to have to make 100 different posts, one for each band... although, if the 2.0 download keeps going at 5kb/s I guess I'l have enough time
  10. Woohooo, finally I can play it. And finally I had an actual reason to register on these forums. Hope there'll be more newcomers to follow.
