Wait a sec, did you even click the link? It has nothing to do with pr0n if that's what you think. It's just some persons twitter who got send to Israel to take out Palestines Prime Minister and rescue Tupac, and all that for an XBox One (I wish I was kidding...)

Aw, bless, Poe's Law in action. I didn't think anyone here was still that bright-eyed. It's okay Biker: you're pretty so you don't have to be worldly.

  2. I second E.Y.E. Got it during the summer sale and had a blast. It's kinda short... though you do have to play it 4 times to get the true ending, I'm on my second playthrough right now with my Hacker character. Except for length the only other negatives to me are the translation and storytelling in general, the story is really confusing, and I'm not sure how much of that is intentional. Another interesting one is Betrayer It takes place in 17th century Northern America, and is kind of a supernatural crime horror game.. It does get kinda repetetive, but the overall atmosphere is pretty nice. A nice little one is Tank Universal. It's a tronlike tanking game. And since we're already with vehicles, Descent. Pretty fun and fast-paced once you get used to it.

I'd never compare DS to Trine... Trine is more akin to Lost Vikings I'd say. It's a puzzle platformer basically. Not really my type of games so I can't say whether it's any good.

You're now ahead of me again I never really recovered from Blighttown it seems... I killed the spider and rang the second bell last time, also got my curse lifted in the New Londo Ruins. Haven't really made my way into Sen's Fortress, mainly because I got distracted by other games.
  5. So, Z was supposed to be released on Steam. Anyone know what happened to it?

  6. I think after half a year and the E3 this thread might deserve to be necro'd. Games I'm looking forward to that are actually announced/in the making: -Hotline Miami 2 (supposedly due third quarter of this year) -All future versions of Battle for Tau Ceti -Darkwood -Spintires -Brigador -L'Aigle (the mod for M&B:Warband) Games I'd like to become reality: -A makeover of Pathologic (just a decent translation and a Steam release actually) -Cossacks 3 (as long as it follows Cossacks 1 and not 2) -A new Fallout game by Obsidian -Gunpoint 2

  10. That's certainly not true. Collecting stuff has been in gaming since the very start. Ever played Pacman? Many games have collecting stuff in them. Do you not collect things in System Shock or Deus Ex? Or the original Tomb Raiders? However, I guess OP (and you) are talking about a speficic kind of collecting. Except for TDM all games OP listed he refers to collectibles (not just collecting stuff... important difference). Collecting things is a competely valid game mechanic. If you set up the player with a mission, it's pretty likely he needs to aqcuire certain things in it's progression. Collectibles on the other hand are usually not there for progression of the main plot and instead give you optional bonusses or sometimes even just achievements. Because of that, you can usually ignore them, so I really don't mind. What I do mind is when excessive collecting becomes mandatory. But that usually has nothing to do with collectibles and is more akin to grinding. And things like destroying military installations in Just Cause or Saboteur falls into the same category for me like grinding and farming in RPGs. So really, it's not the collecting part that's annoying to me, but repetative trivial actions (yeah, I'd say blowing stuff up in JC is pretty trivial) to advance the game. Though I have to say that *sometimes* I really enjoy some brainless grinding and collecting in games when I'm in the mood.
  11. I love space, so I thought I'd reinstall Freespace 2 again and check out all the FSOpen stuff. During the tedious setup process I tried to remember other awesome space games... and I remembered Star Control 2... how I haven't finished this one yet is beyond me. Also it has amazing music, it's so hard to decide for one track... let's go with the weirdest one http://youtu.be/UEEES8BeNCg
  12. I'm pretty sure Goro Goro Iki doesn't actually exist (even though it sounds awesome: http://wikibin.org/articles/goro-goro-iki.html). Except for that article the only other mentions of it are related to ChipCheezum and General Ironicus (the guys who made that video, and the first mention of it was by Ironicus in a Let's Play...).

No. I went from the swamp area right to New Londo and skipped that one area (well, actually I went from the swamp to that hidden place, got cursed and thought I might as well go to New Londo since I can fight those ghosts).

    Dark Souls

No, it's not just you. Those scaffoldings just have messed up collision detection... as I said earlier, Blighttown was really the first area I've been to that actually made me feel frustrated. Also, arachnoid? Don't tell me there'll be spiders...
  15. That's exactly what I did, but it only hyperlinks it...

So, after a looooong break I decided to play DkS again. I got cursed on my second descent (I love Descent...) in that certain place... So I thought I might go to the New Londo Ruins anyways. Is it just me or do the ghosts have really weird hitboxes?
  18. Just started playing Panora - First Contact. Really cool game, except for one major thing: Randomly generated tech trees. Wanna play a scientific faction and research these Quantum labs? Sure, but the Random Number Gods have decided you have to research this heavy tank first... Ugh... terrible idea.

Beat the Gaping Dragon today. Once you stop being impressed by it's size and actually try to fight it it's laughably easy... maybe he bugged out for me or something, but all he ever did was his charge attack, which is easily avoided as he will charge straight into the direction he's facing when he flops down, he doesn't even care whether you moved 100 meters in the meantime... then after the charge he just stood there long enough for me to get 3 to 4 hits in on him... Didn't even need Solaire for him. So then I went to Blighttown... and I think this is the first time I ever experienced frustration in this game... and for all the wrong reasons. Collision detection is just horrible in this place. I frequently fall off the scaffoldings because of some little bump in the ground, or because I just slide around a wall that I strategically positioned myself infront of. The horrible lock-on system doesn't help... Sometimes I have an enemy right in front of me, press lock-on and suddenly the game decides to aim for an enemy on an entirely different scaffolding making me walk off the one I'm on and fall to my death... sometimes it just flat out refuses to lock onto enemies I've got in plain sight causing my strikes to miss and open me up for their attacks. I was so glad once I made it to the swamp at the bottom and light the bonfire there, but down there are these annoying monsters that seem to be half fly and half invincibility frame. And if I'm not mistaken they are infinitely spawning as well... I'm not even sure whether Mildred was supposed to be a relief from them, she didn't even manage to take a swing at me, but those flys screw me up all the time. After scaling the scaffolding with the elevator and falling off of it because broken collision detection I decided to leave that place and go to that hidden area you didn't mention on your list It's a lot nicer here.

Wow... I *just* found that lower area at the Firelink Shrine where you can reinforce your Estus Flask... I was wondering when I would finally be able to do that... Also got my reward from that guy I freed from the cell in the church. I got the feeling I did something wrong back then when I heard his evil laugh... Now he told me to kill other people to get their humanity... followed his advice and now I've got 5 more humanity and a Ring of Favour & Protection Also the medal he gave me. I'm kinda curious what they are good for. I'm really stumped though how I missed this central area for 14 hours...

I might have missed something, but as far as I can tell there really isn't anything in Lower Undead Burg besides the Boss and one NPC, well and access to a new area once you defeated the boss (also some shortcuts back to previous areas). It's more or less one straight street. But yeah, I really like how the game manages to consist mainly of corridor-like paths but still feel really organic and open. There's just so many intersections and everything is really cramped to make most of the space and let you overlook a few areas sometimes. Can't recall who pointed it out (Yahtzee?), but I think this pretty much nails it: Every place you see in the distance is a place you'll end up eventually. That was what made me pick the binocs as starting item... just to find out that you can easily get them at the start of the game anyways... should have gone with the master key I guess.

I don't bother with the online component at all by refusing to update Games for Windows Live everytime I start the game. Am I actually missing out on something?

I just encountered the Gaping Dragon. Got him down to half health with Solaire's help - speak: he got pummeled into the ground by the dragon and I stood behind it hacking away. Of course that strategy fails once Solaire is dead. Well, after finding my way back up and unlocking that door the depths don't really seem that confusing anymore. Getting to the boss room or to that merchant is easy enough. It also turned out to be a lot more linear than it first appeared to me.
