  1. Even if Russell returned, I cringe simply thinking about him reading lines as insipid as the ones seen in the game's narrative thus far. I can hardly blame his replacement Orzari for his performance because of how god awful the script is. I thought Russell's absence would be the biggest hole in this game. Oh how wrong I was. Oh, and also, though Stephen Russell is recognized unanimously as Garrett, he was absolutely brilliant as Father Karras in Thief II: The Metal Age. I still hold Karras highly as one of the best characters in the series. I was shocked to discover that the voice of Garrett was also that of Karras, though it does bring to the table a beautiful dichotomy. Two opposing forces with opposing ideals and voices coming from the same voice. Ironic, I suppose.
  2. Can someone please explain to me what happens to his eye? As far as I understand, he has no mechanical eye. That's clear from the trailer (the beginning) where both eyes are brown. But later on, his right eye is now glowing. It's not mechanical, from what it seems. What the hell is it?
  3. Damn it, I had to upgrade my system for the last one already. I can't afford this!
  4. I love all the customization options thus far (especially the loot glint), but I agree that the shroud needs to be optional or it needs to go altogether.
  5. Project Eternity Wasteland 2 Torment: Tides of Numenera Sadly, that's about it. Though, I am playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and it's astoundingly awesome.
  6. No Quick Time Events and the lack of an XP system do make me happy, but it doesn't change the overall contextual control of the game. Contextual jumping, leaning, etc... Also, no swimming, keeping with Deadly Shadows.
  7. Here are some new screenshots of Thief that were just released, so I thought I'd drop them off here. Though I'm embarrassed to admit, I'm slowly starting to like the aesthetics and visuals this game provides, especially in the better lit areas. Though I've complained before about the rather bleak and dull night environments, the well illuminated rooms and fortifications offer a far better vibrance, as well as a contrast between light and dark. I have a terrible habit of remaining optimistic for several titles however. Since this is the first Thief release in the damn near ten years, who could blame me?
  8. Downloading it right now. Judging from the site alone, it looks impressive in terms of scale. Honestly, I'm pretty excited to play it. Um... all I'm seeing is the background, a night sky, and nothing else, when the game starts. Is anyone else having this issue?
  9. I really wish they didn't name this character Basso. He is in no way anything like the unlucky locksmith we saw in the original series. Then again, I could say the exact same thing about the new Garrett.
  10. Oh sure, the animation is alright. It's missing the stylization and atmosphere of the original cinematics from Thief: The Dark Project and The Metal Age, but it's alright. The problem is everything else. The writing, the voice acting, the piss poor attempt to make it look akin to the older series... the list goes on.
  11. Wow, this is just... this is... well... okay, let's be honest, this is just fucking awful.
  12. Deadly Premonition is a strange title, but severely underrated. It's one of my favorite strange horror games. If you like really weird psychedelic mysteries, then pick it up while it's on sale.
  13. Damn! I really liked it!
  14. Until recently, I was a huge Splinter Cell. Far more than I was a Thief fan. Already being a huge Clancy fan, Splinter Cell (to me) is the greatest combination of certain elements being put together. It had a brilliantly written lead character, astounding political fiction plots of terrorism and foreign affairs, and possibly some of the best espionage emulation that has ever been attempted in the video game medium. In my honest opinion, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is the greatest game of all time. Not to mention it's predecessor and sequel, Pandora Tomorrow and Double Agent, both being incredibly influential in my writing and game developing. Then came along Splinter Cell: Conviction. Honestly, I think everything that is wrong with the gaming industry as a whole can be summarized using that game as a prime example. I don't want to go into my thoughts on Conviction, otherwise this post would be a lot longer. I just finished playing Spies Vs Mercs with friends in Chaos Theory. It's fun to relive some classic memories. Oh, speaking of which, some guy is making this cool game called Project Stealth if you want to check it out.
  15. The site is running again.
  16. Huh. Are you having problems on other sites, or on your computer in general?
  17. Meh, I thought it paled in comparison to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Priyat.
  18. Ah, the spotlight feels good.
  19. Damn! Now I'm curious... Any brave souls willing to try it out?
  20. Hey, Sebastian here. Sorry if this thread has already been made, but... I was just wondering if I could get a possible compilation of all the tracks made for The Dark Mod? After playing, I immediately fell in love with the great ambiance and tone, and I'd greatly appreciate anyone who could show me where to find these tracks standalone. Ultimately, it's not my decision to make if you relinquish anything you made for the game, but I'd be very grateful if you would. I was also thinking that we could create some kind of playlist of currently used tracks from the game or particular fan made levels, and also use this thread to present new tracks made by fans. That way, people could get feedback on their music and the tapestry of atmosphere and ambiance they are crafting for their level. Thank you for your time.
  21. Huh. didn't expect that. I have the feeling that the removal of the XP system is not going to save the game from paling in comparison to the past three games in the series, and that of The Dark Mod. Still, but it certainly is good news and it gives the tiniest inkling of optimism. If they are willing to remove one unfitting and broken system, then why not another? Surely it is too late to revamp an entire game this late into development, especially if the press is correct about the fact that the game is still buggier than a rain forest. But I digress... Maybe I'm just stupid... yeah, I probably am... but I still really want this game to be good. Could it surprise all of us? Probably not, but I'd like to think so.
  22. That interview surely isn't lifting my spirits. "Missions usually focus on a single objective." Since when? If they are taking cues from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, you'd think each level would be loaded with multiple objectives. Please do not tell me all the missions will be simplistic get in, steal this, and leave, or some variation of said formula. I'd love to see the return of jailbreaking, and other such things. I'm also open to other new ideas besides Garrett's kleptomania.
  23. Yeah. ...wait... ...What?
  24. The pickpocketing wisps were strange, yes, though it still looks hell of a lot better without all of the overbearing HUD elements. Lockpicking and other mini-games also look more strategic without UI assistance. I do hope it is all very customizable. The voice acting is still a gripe for me as well. Orzari isn't bad as much as he is a miscast. I don't think he's terrible, but he is no true Garrett like Russell was.
  25. I heard a bit of wub wub, but only a little. Personally though, I was kind of hoping for something more like this. http://youtu.be/INsRJdxXnk0
