  1. Absolutely fantastic Tyrot!! I really love the different styles. Wow. I can totally see them in a lot of different places with the appropriate skins.
  2. Hey there RhunDraco, Thanks for dropping in. I'm voice actors in person from where I live so they can be recorded with my home studio. So all voice acting production is inhouse for the Dark Mod editing tools, unfortunately we don't have a position there. It does appear you have much to offer in other areas though and I'm sure we could use your assistance.
  3. I hadn't seen a post prior to the one I removed, and then quoted as an example. If that was in response to a previous criticism that had been removed then I must also stand by that decision. As you can see from other posts, we don't censor criticism and in fact I do not believe in censorship at all. You are more than welcome here at anytime to offer criticism, but please try to do so in a constructive fashion.
  4. Sorry guys, but I only deleted 1 post and I quoted it fully above. As for the other one, I didn't see it. Like I said, there is no place for such useless postings in this forum. Criticism is certainly welcome, but don't resort to harshness and profanity. It just breeds ill spirits all around.
  5. Looking great! About ASE format. I thought I read somewhere that there was a decision to have everything in .lwo format from here on in. I think a part of it might be to do with ASE format causing issues with the frobbing. I think it was BT who mentioned it...might want to check with him.
  6. I don't think it's him. His ip on the Ion forums is from India, those that have shown up here don't match up.
  7. Mmmm, yummy. We can have a nice set of golden loot textures for them and junk textures. Ahhh, golden utensils.
  8. I issued a friendly reminder to Aditya at the Ion Forums and he took it very gracefully. I just explained that his criticism is welcome, but beyond that he is not to instigate nor encourage flame wars...like he is so fond of doing.
  9. The only difference between Trolls on the ION forums and this one is that I won't be so tolerant here. This is a board for constructive, cooperative, community interaction. Please, don't post such drivel here....it's not becoming of the community I respect. I will leave our friends post in the quote above as an example of what not to post. Feel free to criticize, but for heavens sake do so intelligently. ZAP. GONE
  10. We won't be supporting multiplayer as it is currently the focus of the Night Blade Mod, another Thief style game. I'm sure fan mission authors could mod our tools once released and modify it to be balanced as a multiplayer though. As it stands now though, we are balancing the editing tools for classic single player missions.
  11. Wow, looking GREAT Springers! I can't wait to see this in action.
  12. Thanks. I'll become a member of the community in order to do this. Most likely easier that way.
  13. Yes, absolutely. It kind of looks like a big set of double doors I saw in an old house years ago. Would it be possible to convert them to a set of double doors BT?
  14. By all means. Please do so. We would love the extra publicity.
  15. Seasons Greetings Taffers! New Horizon here to spread Holiday Cheer on behalf of The Dark Mod team. Our members have all been working especially hard since the release of the Doom 3 SDK on October 15th, 2004. We are delighted with the thought of bringing an alternative Thief Style gaming experience to your Windows and Linux PC's. For anyone not familiar with Dark Mod, here is a little bit about us. Dark Mod aims to release an Editing Toolset to the fan community by way of the Doom 3 editor. This will be accomplished by performing a total conversion of the Doom 3 Editing tools into a Stealth oriented gaming platform, inspired by Looking Glass Studios "Thief" series. This will allow the community to begin producing "Thief" Style fan missions with plenty of variety in models and equipment to choose from. In other words, you makes thems Sneaksie missions as youse seesie fits to makes thems! Darkmod will include a few example missions with the Editors release to help explain the documentation. At a later date you should see either a campaign or series of stand alone missions from us to further demonstrate the possibilites of Dark Mod. Now, before I get to the surprise I want to answer a few questions that have been sent our way recently. 1. Is there a 3rd person view? Third person is not supported at this time, we wish to provide a solid first person gaming experience. This does not rule out the possibility of it being added at a later date, but our primary goal is to create a solid gaming platform first! 2. Is wall flattening included? As of this writing, it's being considered. 3. Will you have a central hub for missions, like the city in TDS? Since we will initially be releasing a toolset this will likely not be the case. Fan Mission builders may end up creating this on their own, or you may see one in a later release. While we do not dismiss TDS as a source for inspiration our primary guidance comes from the Looking Glass Thief games. 4. Are there more movement speeds beyond Run, Walk, Creep? Too early to say yet really. We do want to explore other options as we're not bound by Thief rules, but at the same time we want to retain a certain familiarity. 5. What equipment from TDS will be included/not included? You will see the basic toolset or variations thereof...plus a few surprises. Oh and YES, that does include rope arrows! 6. Swimmable water? Yes. Now, on to the surprise. This surprise has been worked on in secret for several weeks by our member of many talents Tyrot and our equally talented Lead coder Sparkhawk, who wrote the concept for what you are about to see. Everyone on the team has worked extremely hard since we came together and I am proud to have watched our team grow stronger and more focussed as the months have passed. The work of many talented team members has been put to excellent use for this present. I hope you all enjoy this gift to the community as much as we have. Happy Holidays YOU TAFFERS!! This one is for you. DARK MOD TEASER TRAILER DARK MOD HI-RES TEASER You will need the XVID codec to view this presentation.
  16. On a serious note. I can clearly see that our animations will be a hell of a lot better looking than those clunky T3 animations. Good job.
  17. Looks like he's at a Builder Holy Revival meeting. PRAAAAAAAAAAAAAISE THE BUILDER!!!!!!!!!
  18. From what I can tell, doom 3 almost seems to have the 3rd person model tucked away in the background somewhere. Standing in front of a mirror gives you the 3rd person model and turning on player shadow just gives you the shadow from that invisible model. I have my game setup to toggle from 1st to 3rd in D3 as I played around with the files earlier on to see if I could replicate the T3 body awareness...this was back before the sdk came out...and when we were still considering it as an option. If we have to create the full model anyway, some of the fans out there might just add it themselves. Could prove interesting if they did and actually got it working better than in T3. It's funny. The marine in D3 climbs ladders in 3rd person without being sucked into place like in T3. I don't think the arms move, but if they did it would suffice.
  19. Didn't seem to be a problem in the original games. I think the bread in those games looked kind of like a baguette. Yum.
  20. GAH, those beasts are hideous.
  21. Yeah, spiders would rock. I wonder why there weren't any in T3? All they had were those silly roaches.
  22. Thanks, I'm picking away at the final version as we speak. Once I get that off my plate I'll be able to put my full energy behind the Dark Mod. I hate leaving things unfinished. As for your questions. I'll answer what I can without crossing any lines. Here we go.... - Is wall flattening included? Not as of this writing. - Is there a 3rd person view? Third person is not supported. - How big will the mod game be? The mod is not going to be like a traditional Mod. We are releasing an Editing Toolset to the Fan Community first. This will allow them to begin producing Thief Style missions with plenty variety and style to choose from. Essentially, you get to make a Thief game In Thine Own Image! We will include a few example missions in this release to help explain the documentation. At a later date you should see either a campaign or series of stand alone missions from us. - Will you have a central hub for missions, like the city in TDS? Since we will be releasing a toolset initially this will likely not be the case. - Are there more movement speeds beyond Run, Walk, Creep? Too early to say yet really. We do want to explore other options as we're not bound by Thief rules, but at the same time we want to retain a certain familiarity. - What equipment from TDS will be included/not included? You will see the basic toolset or variations of it...plus a few surprises.
  23. Hey there, hope to hear some of your work. I'm recording all of the voice work with my own actors for the core toolset, but like Pak said...we could use your help in engineering.
