  1. You are probably right. I'll see if I can do something about it tomorrow.
  2. So, Sparhawk wanted some music for his "trailer in production". So here are one and a half pieces of what you all hopefully thinks somewhat resembles the "thief" sound. (Yeah yeah, the drums sound weird, I've heard it all before) 1 track 0.5 track The first one is pretty much finished. (Still, please feel free to come with suggestions) The second one is, well you guessed it, unfinished. Also, I will be able to start recording SFX again this week (hopefully, otherwise next week, that's for sure). So things will start happening again here at the sound department. The SFX will be done, even if I have to do them all on my own. That reminds me, Springheel, could you add "Soundengineer" to the help-wanted list?
  3. That's what the IRC channel is there for. Details here: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showtopic=450
  4. Nice work as always Spring!
  5. Well it's compiled with XVID, so it should work. (Hah, what did I say? I really suck at video compression)
  6. Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Of course it has to be quick to load, but such a small level should not mean any problems in that area. And regarding text that's not an issue either, since we place them were we want to. Another cool thing would be that when you click on "load game" for instance, the camera could move forward a bit, pherhaps inside a nearby house or something like that. (But it shouldn't take more than 2-3 seconds, or people would be annoyed). And I wouldn't like a street crowded with people. Just a sort of abandoned alley, pherhaps a guard patrolling in the distance. Some birds taking of from a roof. Small things like that. Also, I seriously doubt you'll be blown away by the avi. I did mention I suck at video compression, didn't I?
  7. Okey Spring, it's on the FTP under Art-Concept folder. Called "half-life-menu.avi" (very low quality though, but I didn't want to go higher than a meg in filesize, and I suck at video-compression)
  8. That is just incredibly awsome looking. Could you add some chimneys to the back?
  9. Fantastic model. Just amazing. I love the boots. As far as textures and colours go, I do think Springheels concept is spot on though. But since you said you were going to redo them anyway, I'm not that worried.. Oh, and nice to have you back!
  10. That doesn't mean we can't have a small doom 3 level as the background. I still think this would be the best way. I can record a small video of how it looks in Half-Life 2, if you want.
  11. Yeah, the game kinda does that. There is a pretty good fix though. Start the game with the console (either activate it in the control menu, which didn't work for me, or type -console in launching options via Steam) and type: "sv_cheats 1" followed by "fov 90". It increases the field of view to 90 degrees instead of the standard 75.
  12. Since Oddity is involved in the Nightblade mod, has anyone thought of asking around there where he might be?
  13. I know a few of them. Could ask. But I seriously doubt they'd be willing to start another huge project so soon after T2X.
  14. You can use the Goldwave trial for an unlimited time. The only annoyance is that if you do more than 150 commands, you have to restart it. But that's a VERY minor annoyance.
  15. We haven't even started handing out SFX assignments.. I don't even know how many will be able to do soundeffects besides me. A lot of people seem to have disappeared.
  16. Yes, at least I have always thought of doing this, since it's already in Thief. There are multiple sounds for footsteps, arrows hitting something, corpses collapsing etc. As a matter of fact, when I did the corpse collapse sound, I made two versions, for this reason. They are uploaded on the FTP.
  17. Ooo, that's some great recordings!
  18. The one with a specular looks like something you would find in a sewer. More wet.
  19. Great work as always Springheel!
  20. Judging from my experience with the HumAmb sound, I would say that you are recording too much bass. If you remove the bass sounds from the file (effect > filter > equalizer and then lower the 60 and 150Hz bars) you'll notice that the amplitude is very low. Then you can maximize the sound (effect > volume > maximize) and you'll get a louder sound. So you might want to check the bass setting on your synth. About instruments: Yeah, I think so. Fingernail said something about sound shaders. Otherwise it'll be easy to do with code.
  21. There are no real advantages of recording them in stereo. And the filesize is half as big in mono.
  22. Alright. You've got some pretty good sounds there. Could be tweaked some though. 1. MachineHum1. I think you missed something with the volume here, shouldn't it sound something like this: machinehum with lowered volume I did some variations on this sound, (it's such a nice sound you know.. ) here: machinehum variation 1 machinehum variation 2 2. HumAmb. It's a nice sound, too low though, I raised the volume for you: HumAmb with raised volume 3. BellAmb. Pretty! Still, I think it could be improved. Not sure how though! 4. CutsceneAmb. Also nice. Try the mechanize effect in Goldwave. I think it could work. 5. Harp sounds. Love them! I gotta edit the Soundeffects document and include a bunch of instruments...
  23. Darkness: I think 0.5q stands for 0.5 quality. Just something Goldwave uses probably. The weird thing is, it says your files are saved with 0.4q, 86Kbps? Finger: Oh, that's actually useful then.
