  1. It's been fun, but I am no longer able to dedicate time to DR. Thanks to everyone for all your help over the past few years and to the team for keeping alive what I call, "the golden age" of stealth play. After much consideration, I am quitting the games industry. This includes all indie projects.

If anyone is interested in a few years of maps, scripts and experiments, a PM should alert me to a message and I will grant access to my TDM blog that contains everything.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

It was fun for a while, I admit - but I was hoping for more stealth and less the Dark Souls level frustration with bosses - some parts were nicely made and the characters were good. I guess my reactions and patience levels simply aren't up to the challenge :P

  3. Consider buying a new (used) laptop. It has about the same horsepower as mine, but better screen and battery. (and more expensive as well). Makes sense or it's just consumer rabies?

Don't forget to check speakers - I received an insurance "upgrade" when my laptop charging port came too loose - they didn't repair, replace instead - and the sound is terrible. Can't hear a thing without headphones. Screen is better, though AMD burns hot.

Ultimately - this "upgrade" was a "downgrade" and I wish I had simple soldered the jack instead of thinking a 5 year newer laptop would be better - because it's not.

Deleted after 2 hours... Glad I didn't buy it - installed a PS2 emu. and Kengo: Master of Bushido and Tenchu - way more fun, and £50 less expensive.

Internet is a malleable anarchy, similar to that zit that you squeeze and the pus just kind of moves around under the surface and it goes red and angry for a bit, leaving nail marks, before going a bit scabby then settling down to normal.

There's a difference between "the internet" as in "Corporate owned websites" and "the internet".

I've had my work "copied" and used before - which is fine - but they altered it in a small way and were charging money for it - someone pointed it out and, when I sought out what I could do to stop them defacing my work (don't care about copying) - was told, "if you don't want it copied, don't put it on the /public/ internet".

I guess there's need to write some material files to have more than one mirror render at a time, like the cameras - would've taken time to make a chorus line.

      Never seen Bubba Lego-Tep - a treat!

I'll switch it to public, Petike. Still makes me chuckle, watching it again :P

      AHA - pm_thirdpersonAngle goes more than 360 - 900 is a front view :)

Hmm, the glitch with floating weapons when going to menu while they are being used - the sword and blackjack break the tool system. That's new. Guess only the bow can work now.

They do? I guess that's a reason to update the game today:)

I guess putting it in 3rd person view and then using mirrors at least offsets the view somewhat, to allow for a few other angles.

A shame mirrors don't appear to reflect mirrors. Can't do the old no-clip void trick as with doom and heretic and stuff, either.

Thanks - forgot about that and its not in the console list.

Gives 3rd person view, but the camera is not free - idk a way to do that.

Tbh - I think a chunk of that was steam games... nearly 100 were queued.

I found that steam needs around the same total install space again for some game updates (even small ones).

Trying to install a few hunrded mb update, turned out it needed more than 30gb for a 15gb game.

Just kept downloading the whole package over and over til the space was cleared.

Idk why it doesn't throw a warning.

It's a great atmosphere - very absorbing and immersive with excellent attention to detail. You will barely notice any repetition in the location design - it's as impressive in that regard as Alice: Madness Return's version of WW1 London. The story is on par with V:TM bRPG level - really good. Learn to fight before you try to sneak though - you'll need it. Luckily you can respec at any time. I never killed an NPC, but farmed enemies. I wish I did a few things different...

I enjoyed it, stealth was ok and the story and "detective" talk was good. Combat too a while to get used to but - in the end - it was far too easy and the massive conversations mean I probably won't be replaying it any time soon. Recommended, but not at full price - 75% off at best. Really nice graphics and ambiance, few scary bits - bit addictive - and somewhere I used to live in on the map. Nice moral choices and AAA mapping errors/zfighting.

Some places allow smoking and mobile phones, but will have a big sign up saying "NO DURIANS" - perhaps you could try a durian and pete bean casserole (or wait til summer and chuck a sliver of each through the window)?

  23. We're seeing 1TB SSD's coming in at $120 now. The hard drive manufacturers must be starting to sweat. Reports are that costs of flash will fall even more next year. I hope the hard drive manufacturers get thrashed by cheap SSDs, for not decreasing the price of 2-3TB drives much at all in the past four years.

Can't knock the read speed though - got decent chipset and RAM, then you're always first in the game and get pick of the roles in Red Orchestra 2.

It's nice to push the on button and have windows boot up before you've had a chance to sit down and take a sip of tea.
