    I can help

New Ambient track: http://oceanarts.net/Wp/projects/game-stuff/thief or: http://oceanarts.net/Downloads/Special/tdm/audio/Madmans_Respite.mp3
  2. I've got them mirrored too. http://oceanarts.net/Downloads/Special/tdm/misc/briefing_flowing.zip http://oceanarts.net/Downloads/Special/tdm/misc/briefing_button.zip
  3. I think it's a nice option for authors who want to keep things a little in the shadows before release for various reasons. Aprilsister does have a point however. I'd most likely be initially inclined to start a thread in a special secret forum, because my ego IS that huge. But I'd eventually opt to stay away, because I'd realize there'd be nothing special about my particular mission at all. Plus it might be a valuable vault of learning experiences for the curious of us if it weren't private. But posting would probably have to be restricted to the beta testers and the author, so as to not clutter the threads with various comments and queries. So then privacy might be the best way to go anyway. Seems I'm back to where I started, just like that night in the woods all those years ago. I'm going for yes.

... you guys. Thanks. @Springheel: That would be awesome.
  5. I'd like to tack the chains on the wall, actually. I'm trying to achieve the illusion of a chain pulley type system for my elevators. With low poly chains attached to the platform and just a texture on the wall. Partially hidden behind a brush textured with transparent grate (I think it's called)- A nice little parallax movement- it looks fine, but not perfect.

    I can help

I'll add the vocals as I finish them. Here are the Searching lines: http://oceanarts.net/Downloads/Special/tdm/audio/Searching.zip I need to go back and redo alot of things, at least on the idle lines, as the popping is quite dominant at places- I think I was overly enthusiastic when I first finished them, sorry about that. These are mono wav files, cleaned up and normalized to the best of my ability, and I think they're good enough to release at this time.
  7. Are there any textures/decals of a lenght of chain? There's a situation where I don't actually need a chain-entity as it's going to be out of reach and barely visible, so I feel that a textured surface would be more tidy and better.
  8. Not to brag or anything... But I have this fan... (crowd remains quiet) Ahem... And I want the blades to rotate. Now, I would bet my left pinky toe that I've seen this done, but I can't figure out how. So, how?

Thank you for the kind words. I have gotten my site up again: http://oceanarts.net. It's a little messy at the moment- sorry, I'll get to it. What you're looking for is in the projects->game stuff->thief menu.

    death...

If you're truly concerned for him, then talk to him definitely. Like other people have said, the statement that he did it to himself is a little too simple in my opinion. Noone wants to die a slow and agonizing death. Put their families through hell and then leave them. He's probably been sick for a long time, and getting a death sentence might be a terrible thing, but depending on the amount of suffering it might also be a relief. And feeling a relief like that will probably lead to a great amount of guilt. At least the suffering will end, and they have the chance to get their things in order and say their goodbyes. While your friends situation certainly is a sad one, a lot of people lose their loved ones suddenly and unexpectedly without getting the chance to say farewell and get things off their hearts. Though this reality might be incredibly difficult to accept, once you do you might be able to see it as a "blessing". And I don't mean to be an ass when I say that, it's just something to think about. I believe that death means the end of an individual that will exist just once in all eternity. Something unique is gone and will never return. But that does not mean there is not something else to experience beyond. It's just not you in that sense anymore. Once born you will always have existed, but life is breathing and you can't hold your breath forever. You will pass, and when you do you can't come back. Everyone is a unique collage of dna, history, environmental conditionings etc. It can't happen like that again. So we should obviously take better care of eachother despite all our differences, after all once one of us is lost... it is over. An individual soul for each of us is not something I subscribe to, it just clutching at the hope we'll somehow get a second chance. We get those second chances in life, not in death- be sure to take them. But I do believe in a spirital unifying state to return when the time comes.

Don't know why you can't access that file. It happened when I tried too, but then I tried to manually type in the address and now the link works too(?!?) I'll have the site up again by new years with some nifty download buttons, so... Sorry for the inconvenience.
  12. Good point. I'll fix that. EDIT: Fixed:
  13. How about a teaser/Trailer thread? Made this short one for my own, though it's nowhere near finished. But just to give you an idea of what I mean. Ideally it would give away a little more about the story and such. A little voice over, some compelling sequences, gripping sound effects and music. I'll never understand how to upload a video that'll actually look good on youtube, but I accept that now... almost. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epoQOWltytU
  14. Back to the drawing board... I'll be writing a song about that soon, by the way.
  15. Feels a little strange for a newbie to give advice, but it can't hurt right? This is nice, but I notice the one texture on the ground. Maybe try and break it up a little. Also I probably wouldn't have used a texture like that on a sloping ground as the repeating pattern seems to be a little too perfectly laid for the uneven foundation it's laid upon, if you know what I mean. Also the streetlight looks a little out of place to me. But I would definitely like to sneak around that corner and find out what lies beyond.
  16. That is a very kind offer Nosslak, I thank thee. I've seen your work and it is very impressive. And there will come a time that I will be in dire need of some custom models. Right now tipping scales come to mind, and not one you would put on your desk, but something of a larger size that would fit in a great hall of a long forgotten temple. Sort of prehistoric, but neutral so it could blend into any lost civilization surrounding. I am assuming that custom models like this can communicate signals to the game, like in this case, which side the scales are tipping and such. Right now, however, I was thinking more about how to get my own stuff into the game (music, sounds, textures) and getting them to function.
  17. Thank you very much. The title is Nocturnal Rites Prologue. I wont know much about any release dates, before I get some technical details sorted. I just think I've a complelling story line that might appeal to some players. Ideally I'd want to include some custom works, but I don't know much on how to get them in there, yet. If someone experienced would like to help me in the shadows, please let me know.
  18. As I've finally acquired knowledge of how to construct rather attractive arches, thanks in large to Komag's great video tutorial on the subject- I thought I'd post an example from a small mission I'm working on. Can't say much about it, but it's going to be very cool indeed- if I can get it right that is.
  19. I wanted to thank Komag for his video tuts. Great stuff, although he moves a little too quick for me sometimes. Need to watch a few times before I get everything. I'm a slo-mo kinda guy, not your fault. Thanks.
  20. I'd appreciate that, thank you.
  21. Well, here's short video of what r_showtris 2 reveals. I don't see why those polys should be rendered at all from those angles. http://oceanarts.net...dm/showtris.mov EDIT: The portals appear as green rectangles when I'm infront of them and turn red as I turn the corner and view them directly from the side. EDIT: I see the same thing happen in various other people's missions, so I'll safely assume everything is alright. Video Removed.
  22. And would it also be do-able to add a subtle voice over saying: "Hmm..." on a specific page, thus notifying the player that there's a clue here somewhere?
  23. I'm thinking something like: If player has overheard a specific conversation or read a certain letter, then a certain book is switched with another that has different background art or contain only the pages that show the interesting bits. Maybe with a text message or voice-over saying "Let's go straight to the interesting part." I don't know, something like that.
  24. Alright, thanks. Doesen't appear to be anything there. Had this weird thing happen... Typed r_showtris 2 in the console. And if I'm not mistaken it shows the effect visportals have on rendering, ie what's actually being rendered. Now if I view a random visportaled area from a specific angle the visportal's effect disappears and the polys that should have been, well gones, show as if there was no visportal there at all. So, does this mean there is something wrong with my portals?
