  1. Oh what a pity, those caves a truly awe inspiring Have fun in newzealand though that should be fun
  2. Be sure to try and check out Jenolan Caves in the blue mountains in Australia, their incredible!
  3. Yep, ZylonBane was probably the worst. Not that I was here when he was banned I love this forum it's free from sharks...
  4. O.o ! crispy! what do you do at 2k- I mean, "The Canberra, Australia arm of 2k marin"?? I don't suppose you'd be willing to write me a reference when it comes time for me to come in and say 'I can haz a job?' Having a reference from someone 2 people inside 2k would rock!
  5. The Thief 2 fan mission; 'Rose Cottage' which is a very interesting and unique fan mission to play, has a torch that imitates uv light, you follow it until you find a creepy doles head and some other things inside a box in a hard to find place... That was a interesting mission indeed
  6. To a certain point I agree with you, there does seem to be an air of self righteousness to the people of the forum, but a lot of it's members are on sbf as well, so I dunno, mabye it's a disease you catch if you play dark engine games to long jk
  7. Hi everyone, today I installed thief 1 and 2 on my computer, then with a little bit of difficulty, system shock 2. I was surprised not only that everything worked, but also that cut-scenes worked automatically without having to play around with settings! The codec pack I use is Win7codecs v247, which to me and as far as I know had nothing to do with the formats needed to play the movies for those games, but i guess if you have trouble seeing movies on windows 7 you can try that. Most of the standard installing of patches and such still applies, but everything for me works perfect. I can even have a resolution of 1680 by 1050 in ss2. I'm using Windows 7 pro 64 bit. So yeah, if your hesitant to upgrade to windows 7 because your worried about incompatibility, don't worry. If anything it seems to be more compatible
  8. It does need to look less like a modern speed boat, but there are any number of changes I could make.
  9. The reason i made the boat look better and shinier is because A: it is a stolen boat from a speed loving yuppie, so it needs to look expensively crafted. Eg treated pine wood, pure metals, stylish interior. B: It is technology unheard of in public. So i'm trying to push ahead everyone else's fms to have more technically advanced machinary just because of a one off invention. The idea is that some young rich man has hired (under great expense) a special engineer to design and have built for him an optimised steam boat. That means that it is being made from scratch, with designs to fit the demands. I think that if anything, i diddn't make it regal enough... but then again, i could have included that info with my post aye These pictures give you an idea for the style i was going for... http://www.techchee.com/2007/11/04/steampunk-laptop-wind-me-up-to-power-on/
  10. wow, sounds like quite an ambitious project, can't wait to see the result nice cloak btw
  11. @Bikerdude; That map is looking pretty wicked at the moment I like it. I'm back with some concept art as well. (see attached) It's the boat you use to get to the island in my fm. I made it yesterday, took me like 3-4 hours
  12. oh, so shouldn't his name be under the 'authors' section next to the mod on the darkmod wiki XD If it's all the same to you, I might fix that so people know that his partly responsible for this cool fm damn, mortem desino, your most welcome if you still want to help with my fm
  13. Am I mistaken or did Mortem Desino help with this campaign?
  14. Hi, i finished the campaign and I gotta say, it wreaks of awesome My favourite part was leading the zombies to where the group of guards were to kill them indirectly I enjoyed it. I'll give it 8.5/10, an average for the campaign as a whole.
  15. Hi, i managed to finish the second mission i say 'managed' because I had to play the second half of time I played without saving You should be proud with such a cool campaign, but i hate the fact that I can't fully enjoy it because of the mod's save issues I remember someone mentioning that saving problems could be a hardware issue. It's not the video card, because I've played using a geforce 8800 gt and a saphire 5850 vapor-x and the problem remains the same. It's not the os though either, i've played the game on windows xp pro and on windows 7 pro, no save/load difference. plus there were many other differences with the 2 computers i played it on, so I bet it's purely a problem with the mod. Please fix! that'd be much appreciated dark mod team
  16. I really love this so far I'm on the first level, the scenery looks pleasant, and it's nice and big and interesting. To my surprise, everything runs very smoothly considering the fact that I have all settings on high with a hi res screen, and considering the size of the level. Could be because I have a 5850 vapor-x, but then again I doubt the doom 3 engine takes advantage of that, so good work Only one problem... after a while trying to load the game stops working and crashes instead I wonder if this is a problem with the mod, since it seems to be happening to the other mods as well. Gee I hope it's fixable! It was a shame considering this fan mission is such a great effort.
  17. YAY! \o/ The one good time i can afford time to stop give my essay writing a break!
  18. I'm Simon I'm 17, still finishing year 12 at school, play guitar a little, sing for various events, like general graphics design, currently working towards a cert 3 in 3d animation, plan on doing a 2 year bachelors degree in 3d animation at Quantm for the next 2 years, then plan on working at 2k australia, where i know the producer Jake Drobowiecki (my effort to put my foot in the door ). So HOPEFULLY, I'll be one of the artists working on something like bioshock 4 \o/
  19. @ Mortem Desino Yeh man, sure my email is mrlemonyfresh@gmail.com, if your ready just send a message Oh wow! nice job swordbreaker, I'm sure it'd help to have at least a little mapping help @ Serpentine I kinda had deus ex in mind when i was thinking about the water, (like the boarwalk area in the first level ) it's probably easier just to let the water fade to complete darkness. When i saw they way they blended it in with the background, i thought it diddn't look too bad, sure the background city looked a little dated (apart from the lack of 2 certain twin buildings ;P) but it looked alright.
  20. Hmm, yes activision, I sure am looking forward to 'pirate' themed 'missions' in the future...
  21. Here is an early concept art for the destination area, it's only a rough idea of what it should look like
  22. Hey everyone. Last holidays (NSW) i began to try making a fan mission for the dark mod. I got a mapper who spent 2 weeks 'supposedly' mapping and didn't produce anything I only asked him to make the basic geometry that could be accomplished with a 16 pt grid restriction, he also insisted in using QuArK which might have meant issues down the track causes by QuArK slightly flawed exporter. But it would have made a big difference at any rate! Well, he's doing something else now, and I tried mapping with dark radiant the other day. It took me hours to get the water working how I like! I got it working then realised that it's going to make the creation of my map alot harder! can't overlap water brushes with other brushes, or else they disappear. And that means the water surface on my map is going to need a lot of faces. So you get the general idea, it's going to take me a while to learn how to map, but the problem is i don't have much time. The reason i bring this all up if i don't have time for learning to map is, i might just barely have time to model all the extra bits and pieces, add some new textures, write the story and design the scenes, which is still a decent share. I'd save it till the next holidays, but with an attention span like mine, i need to take ever instance of enthusiasm and use it to my advantage! Here's the concept art for the first part of the map. (see attached) All my concept art took about 5-6 days EDIT: Oh yeah, i almost forgot, if you'd like to know about the story, send me an PM. I'd just rather not go flapping my mouth about it since it'd ruin plot twists for the majority of people. EDIT: Hey everyone, Mortem desino wasn't able to help, but I really need help from someone. I told my teacher that I would help make a darkmod mission for my final project for my cert 3 3d animation course. I'm currently very much tangled in school work and will probably not get to do anything substantial until after my HSC exams are over, so I really need some considerate people to do the mapping for me so I can concentrate on making models textures and animations to show what I've learnt in the course. I've already designed the scenes (apart from the house on the island, might need help designing that) any work I need doing by someone else is the part of building the maps and applying textures. I would be very grateful if someone would help, it would be fun, worthwhile, and would really help me.
