I find the DMAP takes different amounts of time...some times about 30 min, sometimes several minutes...and it's without major changes in additional geometry.

For my first fm old habits I've added a small metal grate build from lots of tiny brushes (I mean really tiny, grid size 0.5 or so). I've only added 200 brushes to over 5000 already this way, but dmapping time had tripled!

I think I read AAS pathfinding takes up a lot of dmap time, and that might do it.
