Fan Mission: King of the Mountain by Spoonman (18/09/2017)
huntaffer replied to level's topic in Fan Missions
I found a "bug". When playing this mission in TDM 2.13 with the addon z_tdm_loot_stealth_stats.pk4 a litlle tool to show loots and stealth score all weapons are invisible . It's Ok in TDM 2.12 It's so simple , similar is in TDM modpack which I use only for fun. I checked some other missions as well in TDM 2.13 and so far did not see this bug. I guess the addon is old and maybe was not updated for later TDM versions ? Anyone to debug it ? -
No worries, I am glad that you checked it. There were so many funny inventions in the Thief series. Just wondered if it can be implemented in TDM too with a simple mod addon or this requires to modify the main executable or else too ? Some days ago I found a "visible hands" mod on moddb https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-dark-mod/addons/visible-player-hands which is nice, but not a big deal.

Hi Snatcher Thanks for your response, I am sure we will see more useful or fun mods from you , Cheers

Hi Snatcher, Amazing work so far. I normally pay new missions without any mods, but I keep an instance with the latest Modpack to have some fun. I like the modular setup. I experienced the skill "Peek" only works in Windows. Any chance this will ever work in Linux ? Running TDM in Wine helps, but I prefer native . In older TDM versions Peek resulted a complete blackness, while TDM 2.13 beta shows the "wrong" side and "messed up" picture. Some new ideas: Is there a way to step further Blinking items and make the loot (jewels, gold, goods) glitter like in Thief 3 Deadly Shadows or shimmer like mementos in the FM "Iris" ? It would make finding loot much easier for starters or anyone preferring it. What about shooting moss arrows make opponents suffocate like in Thief 3 ? What about a musket or pistol addon just to make it super fun ?

Hidden Hands: Blood & Metal (Campaign) - 01.09.2024
huntaffer replied to JackFarmer's topic in Fan Missions
Hi JackFarmer Thanks a lot for your great work, I've just finished the last mission and really enjoyed the whole campaign series. The puzzles were so creative and funny , I was able to solve all of them without searching or asking help here, I struggled with many other FMs before, not being a native English speaker . I liked part 4 and 5 the most, but the others were also very good. I think your Hidden hands series with its special humour is one the best advocates of TDM, great job . When I think of the Lost citadel "lottery numbers" I can't stop laughing I played with version 1.0 In the 5th part I encountered more crashes than usual under Linux, mainly when I had to quickload 3 or 4 times . The error was "WARNING:idClipModel::FreeTraceModel: tried to free uncached trace model" sometimes the known "pthread joined failed". I run Debian 12 KDE with Nvidia proprietary driver v535. I have no idea if the game is more stable generally under Windows or Linux with Mesa. cheers -

This mission, not else If I lower the settings it's better. I was on max highest graphic settings. I got FPS drops from the start, in the staircase etc. -

Yes, I am talking about the same thing. FPS drops in certain areas, not generally, right from the start on highest settings. (From 60 to 30) I love TDM too, been playing it since 2017. I think Jack Farmer's Hidden Hands series is one of the most entertaining ones , giving a special atmosphere. The first one of the series was nothing extra, but all the rest afterwards were masterpieces and I had a lot of fun with them. I know how much time is needed to write one mission like this and I appreciate the developers work. I am looking forward to finish this mission . -

Hi, I realized , I was playing on the maximum highest settings :)) When I lower some , it is better. Most missions (mostly the older ones) do not have significant FPS drops. I am planning to purchase an AMD RX GPU with which is better supported on Linux, what I prefer . I know my PC (Intel® Core™ i5-4440, Nvidia GTX 1650 ) is not a powerhouse. -

I am playing on Linux, Intel core5, GTX 1650, which is not a weak GPU, but low midrange at least. FPS is dropping from 60 to ~30 in some areas and its annoying. Any optimization possible ? As TDM versions evolve, the more this game becomes slower. -

Very nice mission , I enjoyed it very much, although some secrets are VERY hard to find. Although I read all the readables , I am not able to find 2 hidden switches: Would you please advise how to find them. Maybe you could hint all secrets in spoilers. I also noticed that soldiers or other AI do not chase you over some boundaries , although there is no physical obstacle between you and them. They just stop and start to throw you with stones which is so ridiculous. It seems they just respect the end of their places. Can it be adjusted ? -
Fan Mission: Who Watches The Watcher? v1.0 by DeTeEff (2022/05/28)
huntaffer replied to DeTeEff's topic in Fan Missions
I personally prefer linux on my home computers and have been playing TDM on linux since 2017. I started with TDM 2.05 32 bit, I feel it became more and more stable, but segmentation faults can occur any time in any mission in my experience. I do not have much experience playing TDM on Windows. I hope it's only a programming bug, not related to linux system files or Nvidia drivers. I can "anytime" crash a TDM mission by shooting fire arrows at enemies. -

Hi DeTeEff Thanks for commenting, I suspected this to be a bug . It's funny and weird. You mean at mission start I need to lock my home door ? Do you think a fix is possible ? Very good mission. When I started to play it, I thought this is below average quality and gameplay, but man , this changed very quickly when I reached the pub scene and started to follow Clerwick. The Roughboys' hideout and the perimeter is very cool. I do not like the horror part of the story , but apart from that 5 out of 5 stars. Awesome work. -

Hi DeteEFF & taffers, please help, maybe I found a bug that needs a fix. I got a segmentation fault when leaving Greynard's place, after the main objectives were completed. Screenshot attached with the exact location, passed through some watery area and where are some stairs appear . I managed to "noclip" through the beginning of the stairs and I can continue my leave from the tunnels. "You forgot to lock your home door. This could be a bad thing... signal caught: Segmentation fault si_code 128" (I am playing on Manjaro Linux KDE kernel 5.15 , TDM 2.10, NVIDIA GTX 1650, driver 510.73.05) I mostly get segmentation faults in TDM missions under Linux when shooting fire arrows to enemies. I also experienced issues with lighting up dark places , like the boiler room or where Greynard's safe is. Sometimes the lantern does not light up the objects, I need to retry twice or more to be successful. Strange , never saw this before in TDM. -
The Black Mage (Grayman, JackFarmer & Friends), December, 24th, 2021
huntaffer replied to JackFarmer's topic in Fan Missions
Yep, now clear., thanks mate. I just rushed through the lava section to complete the sabotage , did not care about this solution. Based on the view of the destroyed cell I expected a funny monster like creature , lilke a cyclops in the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic game. cheers
