  3. Right...and they only used the tools at TTLG and TDM to reach their intended audience. Like I said before, ironically, they never had any intention to "community build" with the Classic Thief Community at TTLG and TDM...only to use us as a means to reach out to the "Tomb Raider Kid".
  4. Square Enix and Amazon.com announce Thief Mod Contest
  5. Can't wait, Goldwell... But do you think you could brighten the image a little?...
  6. Contest is over. Enjoy the five finalists. Vote for "Tomb Raider Crossover". That is all.
  7. But of course...those who are not true of heart should not be supported, as this works against the values that this community stands for. They have chosen to make a mockery of Thief Universe, and have rejected the core design philosophy which we embrace and diligently expand upon...They seek to displace and end what we want for the future. Is it any wonder to see these laughable results?...I think not.
  8. I can't wait to experience it, Melan...I loved the first one...
  9. If they were to abandon their customers by not releasing patches to solve serious technical problems, then that negative feedback would cost them more in future sales than the expense of the post-release skeleton crew working to correct these issues. So there isn't any contradiction of logic, because releasing critical patches early-on for serious technical problems makes them money in the long-run.
  10. Basically, the SE execs didn't want to keep draining the coffers + growing discontent from negative pre-release feedback = Get this son-of-a-bitch out ASAP. With likely 50+ million invested, and realizing that NuThief wasn't going to be a winner like they hoped, it was time to stop the bleeding and pray that it would sell well enough to minimize the losses.
  11. This is called damage control measures...They'd be complete idiots to "abandon" their customers, and leave them furious with a technically-challenged product...Doing so, would only pour more fuel on an already raging fire of discontent, thanks to their foolish lore-smashing and player-agency restrictions. So all they're doing is trying to save their own ass.
  12. A ray of light, that nourishes the true of heart...yet burns those who fail to meet this challenge.
  13. That's a good point, Lux...It's been over a month since the release of NuThief, and most have already experienced and formed impressions during this critical time. So this is a case of "too little, too late".
  14. ...and good luck to you, Jay...on salvaging what little you can with NuThief. Such a terrible shame SE/EM refused to listen to the fans, after so many years of inspired and constructive input. Well, you know...you reap what you sow.
  15. The core problems will never be fixed.
  16. Yeah, that statistic doesn't surprise me, considering how teams are normally formed...Composers/sound designers like myself usually freelance and keep their options open cross-entertainment-industry (Music, Film/TV, Games)...because our talents and opportunities are applicable to that wide range. However, I've decided later in the year to form an indie game studio, so that I can apply my design concepts to an under-served market... There will be no need to farm-out music/SFX on that team...
  17. Again, there isn't any rational basis for saying "TDM isn't a game"...which is why you will never hear a good argument for it. A "campaign" is an optional design construct for a game...not a prerequisite for the existence of a game.
  18. Another Valve employee joins Oculus...https://twitter.com/oculus/status/450780024770023424
  19. This is not from TDM or NuThief...It is from Paul Mader.
  20. Interesting non-Facebook-related news...http://www.oculusvr....hief-scientist/ Michael Abrash, from Valve, is now joining Oculus.
  21. Okay, played it. Great first mission. Positive: Good detail, architecture, nice use of wood, Mage Negative: No Lockpicks Overall, excellent...
