  1. The quality of the Thief trilogy parrallels the Terminator trilogy. Why oh why was T3 ever made?
  2. And then place eyeglasses with open eyes, fake nose & chattering teeth ?
  3. So can we lay down the guards with precision ragdoll? The perfect kodak moment of putting one unconcious guards hand on the other's ass??
  4. They looked more like a Goa'uld Zat than a phaser
  5. That's a poor comparison. In Deus Ex you play a character on the inside, who has direct access to information that allows virtually concrete determination as to whether the conspiracies are true or false. The moon landing being fake/second shooter of JFK, we are outsiders to those conspiracies, and therefore received doctored and bias information.
  6. Caught this today: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111795753...yid=14&cs=1 This could be either really good, or really bad.
  7. I dislike save zones/checkpoints for a few reasons: - Even professional mapmakers tend to place half their points in poor places. - It breaks the game down based on an exterior mechanic. - Computer crashes/game freezes and the possibility of corrupt save files.
  8. Map creaters could also implement a pre-mission setup option of either choosing unlimited saving, or choosing limited saves with an input box to type in the number of saves wished. This way you could still put 0 in the box and have do to the map all in one stretch.
  9. I believe I read this wrong. I thought it was in reference to full products, but it seems to be a type of demo access. I was hoping that they could create a guest account that would give full access to the games and lock the games down that are being accessed by a friend, so that it virtually achieves the same effect of physical borrowing of the game CD. How it currently works is a friend gives you his/her account name & password. I don't really like Steam, for I prefer to purchase complete ownership of the product, the traditional way, and not just buy into a leasing contract in which conditions are subject to change by only one party (Valve).
  10. Something odd about the recent Steam update: Limited time trial?? So now a company that I fully purchased and own a product of gets to decide what I do with it and whom I give it to, and for how long? Or at least now they allowed me to.....
  11. As much as the people of the US are anti-war, anti-government, anti-big business, there seems to be a general complacency which makes it essentially meaningless. Why hasn't the current administration been impeached or removed? Maximus provides some points as to why organized opposition to manipulative powers hasn't sprung, the average US citizen is culturally indentured to a life of obedience in those powers.
  12. IIRC the guards in Thief would go on high alert if they spotted an item of value missing, and would communicate it with nearby guards, but it always seemed that spotting murder would cause more of a frackas.
  13. Since I got those, I've only read Rise of Endymion, and now finishing up Wuthering Heights. I try every night to read for at least half an hour (sometimes other *things* come up ) , also sometimes when on the can, and most definitely when on a plane ride.
  14. That's the same video card I bought over a year ago, only I got the PCIE16x version. One thing that has occured is that after mildly overclocking (380/1070) it for a year it started to destabilize, the screen kept distorting, shrinking and expanding. I don't know if it was just a weak card I got or XFX poor overclocking capability.
  15. It uses the Lithtech Jupiter EX engine, same as F.E.A.R., which luckily meant the PC port was good since the engine was originally developed for the platform.
  16. It might be pure coincidence that the shot was taken at that frame, but unless that bottle has a guided missile in it, why is it thrown straight at the player and not spinning?
  17. Minus Halo 3, definitely. Add to that Alan Wake & Jericho The Official site launched as well: http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/bioshock.html
  18. Well I picked up A Game of Thrones today at Chapters, along with Wuthering Heights, Rise of Endymion, The Name of the Rose, and Atlas Shrugged. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I stop there
  19. Hmm someone else I know had a similar problem. Here is what they said:
  20. Jordan has become the milkmaster of the fantasy series reader. I lost my last ounce of interest in book #7 after reading it felt like nothing was achieved or progressed for the major or supporting characters. I'm amazed in retrospect that I hung on for as many as I did The series you mentioned has been recommended by a buddy of mine. What are the 4 books so far and their sequence?
  21. The only one I know of is this Texture mod being done: http://offtopicproductions.com/hdtp/ They only have an alpha release of objects for download, but you can also watch their progress and notice the difference
  22. I bet you this won't translate to reduced prices of games as it should. They'll just pocket the profits and not give anything back to the customer. "If Bush and his cronies went to Iraq to get the oil, then why haven't our gas prices gone down?"
  23. Just about finished reading "Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand, then I have "Endymion" by Dan Simmons to read next, a continuation of the great Hyperion novels
  24. Hi all, A couple college buddies of mine are wanting to head over to Bangkok (what a name!) for a couple of weeks in January. I was thinking of joining them since I have some time saved up. Anyone here have any experiences from Thailand? From what I've gathered from the web and heresay is that it has a hot night scene, maybe too hot
