  1. I've already got some sketches in the works for guard and builders...what we could really use are things like furniture, lights, mechanical sketches, architecture, etc.
  2. Lol. A perfect little hiding spot for our thief, having a shadow directly under a light like that.
  3. Besides, what are the chances of getting the whole SDK for T3, even if we do get lucky enough to get an editor? Without one, most of the things we didn't like about T3 would still be present in FM. Here, we have a chance to make it the way we want it to be.
  4. Wow, that was fast! Looks great! Way to make a comeback too...I'm glad you were able to recover after the loss.
  5. Candles are already modelled in D3 so that shouldn't be hard. I wonder what other D3 objects we could use if we retextured them? We could put a wood texture on the boxes, for starters.
  6. I'll get to work on our Builder church- types. This is my first week back at work though, so you'll have to give me until the weekend.
  7. Oh god, not the sword vs dagger again. The size argument just doesn't work, since we also have a thief walking around with a longbow and quiver full of arrows, and who can carry a dozen goblets, plates and paintings around with him on missions. No one is talking about having a thief with a five foot broadsword, either. But a short sword makes sense (and is also the classic D&D Thief weapon, btw). Arguments for a (small) sword: 1. Continuity. Two of the three Thief Games have Garrett using a sword. (and interestingly enough, even in T3 the other Thieves in the game had swords) 2. Versatility. Garrett doesn't just break into houses, he also travels through underground ruins, crypts and pagan forests. Any character who risks battling zombies, giant spiders, treebeasts and burricks is going to want something longer than a dagger. 3. Gameplay. Fighting with a dagger comes down to clicking fast and circle-strafing. In terms of gameplay it was not enjoyable at all, at least for me. The sword fighting in T1&2 allowed for parrying and fencing, and was more fun to do. Now, I suppose we could allow for both options...although I can't think of a situation where a dagger would be preferable to either a short sword or a blackjack. But please, if we decide not to use a sword, let's not do it because it's "realistic".
  8. I suggested this on the old forum, and gave an example or two (not very good ones mind you). Problem is, it is hard to have a working compass around a rectangular gem.
  9. Holy shit, I can't even express how much that sucks.
  10. Actually, it is based on a window from a concept painting from Thief3 (which in fact has even more rings). You can critique the architecture when it's done if you like, but this is not a custom piece. If the community wants to use it, fine, if not, fine.
  11. I've been working on a portfolio piece for a while between other commissions. It's below. We can certainly use it for a webpage or promotional material when its done if you like. I'm working on things for other clients and my Real Job resumes tomorrow, but it would be finished in a couple weeks. work in progress:
  12. Guys, can we not quote huge graphics files in our responses? We only need to see the picture once.
  13. Thanks for the offer, but it's going to be a looooong time before we're in a position to need testers. Next year at least.
  14. Ok, here's one version I've been working on. This is about twenty minutes of work, so I wouldn't call it highly polished. The smaller one especially could use some more work. Enough to give you the idea though. I've downloaded some official Thief fonts to use. Regular banner size: And larger size version with Ren's tagline:
  15. Nothing in any detail. Garrett has been notoriously fluid in his appearance, as he has been drawn by many different artists. Ours just needs to look similar (since it isn't really Garrett anyway, *cough*) His face will always be in shadow anyway.
  16. I'm working on one here and there, but I'm quite busy today. I might have something tonight. Edit: Ok, I have a few more minutes to make some comments...The typical banner size is 468x60, which is not a lot of space. The new one by Alexius looks great but is far too busy to be used at banner size. Perhaps it could be used as a website header or something. I'm not entirely sure I like the colour scheme, which is awfully bright and red...it makes me think more of Aladdin than Thief, but that's me. I have two different versions in the works and I'll post one of them tonight for comment. I can't work on it from this computer though.
  17. Is the official Thief font or something? I find some of the letters really don't seem to go well together, and the smaller ones are almost impossible to read. I like the tagline though. The face isn't my favourite part. I have some small experience with banners...can we hold off posting it for a day or two to tweak a few new versions?
  18. Really? I thought the door looked almost exactly like the older city doors in TDS. I think it looks a little whiter than normal because of the light glare.
  19. Just wanted to post here how bloody good I think this looks. Omega, let me know if you need any more sketches.
  20. I can't wait to see a room made with Thiefy textures.
  21. A cool tutorial from the D3W forums about creating new creature models. http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=5133
  22. Man, the ceiling looks good, but I'm still dazzled by the friggin' window!!
  23. Why does it have to be so big? That's huge. It would be readable at half that size.
