help required please

I've just downloaded Dark Mod into Doom 3 and when I start the launcher receive the following message.Can anyone advise please.Thanks !

Darkmod directory is C:\Program Files\Doom 3\darkmod\darkmod\

This is your problem:

 

C:\Program Files\Doom 3\darkmod\darkmod\

 

Note the double "darkmod"? Move the contents of darkmod\darkmod one level higher (and delete the second one when it's empty) and try again.

It seems that you put the dark mod inside of two directories instead of one (I.E. the problem is C:\Program Files\Doom 3\darkmod\darkmod\tdmlauncher.exe)

Just copy-paste everything of TDM back a directory, so the launcher and all the pk4 files end up in C:\Program Files\Doom 3\darkmod

However , this solves that particular problem but I now get the opening page/ splash briefly before it disappears ( to a grey screen ) with the following message ' The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way'

Can anyone help please? thank you in advance.

Oh. I honestly thought it was. I tried the ctrl + alt + tilde keys to ascertain this but nothing came up. Will check again. Would failure to update result in such a message? Many thanks.

The Dark Mod code will only work with 1.3.1.1304, everything else will crash. The key combo for the console is Ctrl-Alt-~ (or circonflexe ^ on German keyboards, in any case it's the key above the TAB button).

Now tried the latest patch - no go. Did so want to play the latest Thief on DM ! Will now have to give up on the whole thing , I've spent so much time trying to get it to work ( five or six hours ) and ended up completely frustrated. back to regular Thief I guess. In case you had the wrong 1302 patch installed beforehand - I don't think it's possible to update from 1302 to 1304. You'd need to re-install Doom 3 if you ran into the wrong 1302 patch once.

Many thanks , didn't like to sound so down about it , just that I' ve tried just about everything I know. When I get the time I'll do as you say and reinstall and let you know how I got on. Don't like to give up.
