General sound quality issues

Sounds like a good idea, although naming the rooms by size makes more sense to me. Maybe a guy such as Dario D. would be willing to put some time into making accurate presets. On his website he wrote: "I'm part of a small crowd that believes that great sound in games/movies can be more powerful than the best visuals". (I pretty much agree).

Agree, too, the sound was the most stunning experience in Thief 1 (yes, I had EAX :) Would you please ask him what he thinks?

I can't get it to work after changing some settings. I'm not sure what i did, but im getting 2 different errors now. I'd like to make sure it works in one of the regular maps with mulitple portals and info_locations, but that might take awhile for me. If you have any spare time, its pretty easy to set up and test. You might also have an easier time troubleshooting with your programmer perspective. If your busy, maybe someone else can help test this out? Otherwise i'll simply have to get to it when i get to it.

Apart from having almost no time, :( and no machine to run TDM on, :( the last time I tried I couldn't get it to work at all...

Im completely stuck with the same error anytime i try to load a map with .efx references other than the walk.map. Its:

"Error: eax testmap.efx, line 1: expected "Version" but found '{'.

.efx files start with "Version 1" at the top of the file. Whatever is happening here, i can't seem to get around it. I think im going to post in the public forum in case anyone wants to investigate it.

I can't look for the sound name now, but was thinking about it so I figured it would be good to document...

So hum sound on the 'grill light' is VERY loud. Completely overpowers everything around it. Playing MadMountain I found it unbearable to crouch under one of the lights.

It MAY be a machine sound, so the volume might be good, maybe we just need a quieter buzz for this lamp.

Other lamp buzzes are pretty loud too considering they are just lamps.

--------

And placing a 'bell ring' (we have 2) are pretty quiet. I understand they are distant up in a tower, but maybe we need a loud one for being closer, or even in the tower with the bell.

Dark is the sway that mows like a harvest

(I think) the sounds were already quitened for 1.03 by Sneaksie, although it wasn't tracked:

      Bachelor Mapping Challenge!
The girlfriend will be away to her mum's place for almost a week, which means more mapping time for me! I'm planning a speed build. Hope it will go my way
I'm starting by downloading 2.11. Don't know if I'm going to use any fancy new stuff. Just want to crack those itching map muscles that has gone dry and dead since almost a year's worth of no-mapping

The cool part of Canonical's Snap, is that my machine can now ray-trace an entire (simple) scene faster than it takes the web browser to start!

      Fm idea (braindump)
"Experience the life of a mission builder"
Esentially there are finnished elements placed somewhere in storage in the game and you have to place them in the correct places, build some walls here and there, add guard routes, give them their correct speech lines, etc. Decorate the places.. all in-game. lots of fun.. 😉
If you do it right in the end you can play the mission.
(would be even cooler if a thief-ai could play the mission, making it some kind of tower-defence game)

This first started as an idea for an aquarium builder mission where-in you have to fill an empty aquarium with sand, waterplants, castles water and swimming fish. But above idea is more fun.

Dear ChatGPT, What are The Builders in the Dark Mod?

The Builders is a popular game mode in the video game community called "Dark Mod," which is a fan-made tribute to the classic "Thief" series of stealth games. In this game mode, players assume the role of builders who construct structures in a dark and ominous environment while trying to avoid detection by patrolling guards.
The Builders game mode is unique in that it offers players the opportunity to create and design their own levels using the in-game tools and resources provided. Players can experiment with different building materials, construct intricate traps and puzzles, and create their own unique gameplay experiences.
While The Builders game mode is not an official part of the Dark Mod, it has become one of the most popular and well-loved aspects of the game, thanks to its emphasis on creativity, strategy, and stealth.

You guys did not know that, did you?
