hi

im new with dark mod. i played the thief games and i loved them. i bought doom 3 just to play the dark mod (didnt start doom 3 even once :P)

now i downloaded and installed everything so far and i got 2 problems though.

first thing it seems i cant set my display resolution at max. whenever i choose 1920x1080 it looks still like 1024x768. even after restart and using admin setting. is there any other way to change the resolution as i wich, like a config file?

second problem: my charakter seems always to walk to the right whenever i wanna walk straight. i walk with "W" but he always seems to walk not straight ahead but drifting to the side so i always need to correct with "a"

yeah thats for all first :)

would be glad if someone could help

You also need to change your Aspect Ratio.

If you have done so and it still is not working create a text file named autoexec.cfg (make sure that your folder view is set to show extensions so that the file isn't really autoexec.cfg.txt ).

Then place these cvars into the file:

seta r_aspectRatio "1"

seta r_mode "-1"

seta r_customHeight "1920"

seta r_customWidth "1080"

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

This sounds like a problem ATI users encounter. Can you turn your catalyst AI off?

Wow !!! This also is an ATI problem ???

I though enabling Bloom in 1.03 making the world turn upside-down would be an odd one.

Glad I will get a new rig soon

And for sure ATI will not be inside.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
