New Character for 1.06

I've reduced the value of the footdragging at least five times and the chains thrice. Not sure when the most recent change was.

If you're using a Creative card make sure that the "SVM" and "CMSS 3D" options are disabled in the Creative control options thingy, I know a few laptop guys ship volume normalization filtering software with them, but I doubt you'd be doing it on that. I'd also suggest disable EAX ingame while you test, I notice that makes things illogically loud or distant sounding even in test maps with no locale info.

One day I'll figure out why people want to blanket filter output, one day :/

The foot-dragging of the zombie is supposed to be unnerving, so a job well done, I guess! ;) And there are zombies without it, as well as skeletons...

I have more problems with the revenants - something about the voice/effect set is still off, and it sounds cobbled together, disjointed... Which I guess it must be. I realise it is a lot harder than even human sets, but one day, at the second coming of Our Lord Eric Brosius, please ask him to do a revenant set for you.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Ok, I made a version with toned down collar. Add a couple skins, and we have a slightly more versatile character that would make a decent blacksmith, miner, or inventor engineer.

That looks good, I like his "sad frown" face, it makes you think of a hard day and a lot of work.

No, the zombies have an entirely different skeleton, so animations can't be shared between them.

Damn! That's a real downer - I'm a huge fan of the undead and was hoping it was going to be just a retexturing job to open up the whole City for undead shenanigans!

No formulae the text-books know,

Will turn the bullet from your coat,

Or ward the tulwar's downward blow

Strike hard who cares—shoot straight who can—

The odds are on the cheaper man."

Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.
