Got a request: func_emiter bound to cooking pot that extingushes when dropped.

Here is the scene -

  • Player see a cooking pot bubbling & gentle steaming on a cooker or small furnace.
  • Player pick's up said pot and for a short while it will continue to bubble/steam.
  • Player drops pot it falls on its side or player rotates pot so its sideways on - the func_emiiter stops emitting steam and the bound speaker entity stops bubbling permenatly

I am guessing this would need to be a scripted object...? of so can someone help me with this..? Would be very cool if said pot had a way of detecting if it was above a heat source and was the right way up and then would start steaming/bubbling again.

would likely be better left as a static entity with permanent func_emitter. I wouldn't bother with this kind of detail unless someone first figures out a way to make believable one-time liquid spills from moveable objects, and I don't really see that happening.

I only say this because I feel as a player, that feature would not grab my attention or add to my immersion unless it behaved more realistically when turned upside down than to just stop steaming.

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.
