Elementals

Noticed there is a Fire Elemental in the wiki, very cool!! I was hoping that there was one of those...

Is there a way to make Water Elemental, Earth Elemental or Air Elemental?

Fire opposite vulnerable to water, the others I'd guess...

Water vulnerable to fire, earth vulnerable to gas, air vulnerable to moss?

Are the amount of enemy models restricted to the amount of enemies in D3 and what entity that the new model replaces, or is it possible to have all four elementals? What was the original enemy/model that was replaced for elemental...the lost soul?

There are no restrictions to the kinds of enemies that can be created. All it takes is someone willing to make the model and textures, create animations for them (or use existing animations) and make an entity def.

How about sounds, does the Fire Elemental emit a burning sound like the Fire Spectre from TGold? Noticed on the wiki it says "character not in TDM yet" or something similar. What's missing from it being in TDM?

How is it intended to attack, by touching the player and burning, or firing a projectile? Both?

Does this also mean that custom sounds would have to be created for each elemental too then?

The fire elemental already has sounds. What was missing was the flying code, and I think making it solid to water arrows. It's been years since I looked into it. The flying code is now working, but I haven't had time to go back to it.

Has anyone had any luck with textures from Polyhaven? Their OpenEXR normal maps seem too washed out and give incorrect shading in the engine.

I tried to upscale the TDM logo video. First try:

briefing_video.mp4 You can test it ingame by making a copy of the core tdm_gui.mtr and place it in your-tdm-root/materials/ , then edit line 249 of that file into the location where you placed the new briefing.mp4 file.
What I did was I extracted all the image files, then used Upscayl to upscale the images using General photo (Real-Esrgan) upscale setting and then turn it back into a video.
I might have to crop it a bit, the logo looks smaller on screen (or maybe it's actually better this way?). My video editor turned it into a 16:9 video, which I think overal looks better than 1:1 video of original.

Trying to be productive on my down-time before Capcom releases Akuma and my son is constantly on my PC playing Street Fighter...

Finally got round to publishing a tutorial on baking normal maps in Blender, since most of the ones we have are inaccessible or years out of date.

The FAQ wiki is almost a proper FAQ now. Probably need to spin-off a bunch of the "remedies" for playing older TDM versions into their own article.
