The best strategy to go through a maze

In TDM, as well as in other games, we find more or less complex mazes, and in order not to get lost it is advisable to go through it with some strategy, at least if there is not an Ariadne out there that provides us with the corresponding rope.
There are algorithmics that allow us to find the exit in the shortest time, but this does not interest us, since we only want to pass to the exit without doing the same path 3 times (or more)

A very simple trick, which takes us safely to the exit only requires, that we choose from the entrance, either the right wall or the left wall to which we follow consequently, Although this sometimes leads us in dead-end corridors, we turn around following the side of the chosen wall. This inevitably leads us to the exit, although not necessarily by the shortest route.
It always works, even in real mazes in a garden or at a fair, no matter how complex it is.

In this example I have chosen the right wall and it can be seen how I get to the exit, consequently following this wall. The same would happen with the left wall, although then the path would be somewhat different, but it would arrive the same at the exit. Not the shortes way, but without getting lost, if necessary, even blindfolded. You can win bets with this.

This would work if there were not a pit of spikes or a rolling boulder or a giant spider waiting in a dead end, as many games would have.

So a specific Thief trick I use is, generally there are guards about, so I bop them out and place the bodies where I know I don't need to go, as an indicator to a hallway that I have already explored, so as not to backtrack needlessly. This shrinks the maze, which isn't what you're talking about, but still a strategy to get through it.

Yes, or they have traps or changing walls, but generally is a good strategy, guards or spiders are not so important, with some stealth and strategy they can be surrounded or eliminated, same as in other sites (skeletons in Spring cleaning).

But not only in mazes, I use this wall tactic in normal (hugh) missions to explore the map as well, which also helps to cover much of it, until I know it well enough to look more freely later.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
