Back in the 90s, there was this awesome band that had a pretty cool image: They pretended to be cryogenically frozen citizens of the communist Soviet Union, who got dethawed and told to play various songs. The songs turned out horribly butchered in their reinterpretations. I particularly remember a version of Hotel California, that featured a flute solo, that is by far the weirdest cover ever made by a band, sounding similar to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZBgaBIrgzs

Of course nobody here knows what I'm talking about. They were played on the charts back then, but now they have been erased from the history books. I've spent several days searching for them, and now I just give up.

Do you remember them? What other bands can't you find on the internet anymore?

Try as I can, I can't remember anything like this from 1990ss and thy cryo-thing I would surely recall.

There was (is) a German comedy band since the 2010s that claims to be a Polish family of musicians, and many well-known world hits have been stolen from them (the aunts, their uncles, their parents, their grand parents, etc.) by the capitalist west...but there is no cryogenic reference...

No, sorry, that's not the band. The production quality was top notch, and it wasn't a live band. It's sad that if you so much as mention Russia in a search engine, it just ignores the music tag, and just starts talking about the country and the Soviet Union, and actual Russian bands. They're not listed under Hotel California covers.

The band was more in line with fake-international parody band Caramba, which among others made this song:

I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.

I finished DOOM - The Dark Ages the other day. It is a decent shooter, but not as great as its predecessors, especially because of the soundtrack.
