Another Mansion Pack Model Chalked Off

Yeah, it's the essence of tricky trying to paste a 2d atlas onto a 3d globe. the pic I used came in two separate halfs as well so I had rto split the globe into two hemispheres. I'l fiddle around with it some more.

I made the globe parrt a separate object so it could be a func_mover, and spin on it's axis if the player initiates it, also because I don'y know how to implement two texture for one object yet.

I'll upload it to the FTP for now.

Also, that may not be the final map on the globe anyway, it may be bet6ter to use some fantasy map or something rather than Earth.

OK. If that globe can spin that this would be really cool. :) I can implement this rather fast. :) But I would need a seperate model for the sphere then.

I upped it to the FTP - into the models directory, or so I thought, but it seems to have ended up in the parent directory instead, maybe someone with power can move it.

Be neat if you could frob that object and make it spin. :)

Should be no problem to implement. I think this can be already done with the current code.

Just needs a frobaction script attached. I wouldn't even need to change the SDK code for that. It would need a seperate model for the sphere though. then you must place the two objects together and you can frob the globe. The spinning can be done from a scriptfunction.

I don't think that this would be good idea. It'd be rather hard to place the two objects correctly together in the D3 editor. wouldn't it be easier to make it a md5-mesh object and animate it ?

Of course that can be done as well. It would take much less resources to place it in the editor, though. You only have to place the sphere and align the axis for the sphere to rotate.

I mean. This is the same as placing a book on a table. You also have two seperate models and you must place them correctly in the editor so that the book is lying on the table instead of floating or is stuck in it.

Doing it with two models has also another advantage. We can use the sphere for other objects as well with different textures and we also can create a junk verison of it. Like a junkyard where a broken case is and the globe itself is detached lying around.

Edit: If I get the two models I would do this.

what about the physics ? when the globe consists of 2 totally seperate objects, how will it react, when it's knocked over ? I don't think that it'd react realistic...

Should it be possible to knock it over? And with my globe at home, the sphere jumps out of it's socket. I don't have this kind of globe, mine is much cheaper, but I don't think that this would be unrealistic.

You couldn't knock this over, unless you actually lifted it and tipped it over on purpose, even then the globe would not detatch, since it's fixed with an axis rod which is screwed into the the metal longitude span.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
