Suggestion: Distinguishing Color

Recommended Posts

I have a suggestion to help aid with easier editing. I tried looking around for something like this in the view>colors menu and stumbled across the color schemes, that helped but I have two ideas.

I got the idea from Hammer/Worldcraft and Milkshape 3d.

With Hammer you can change the color of the void, so its eaiser to find leaks with a yellow void space showing through those cracks than black.

And In ms3d, you can color seperate parts of the model different colors (not in the skin, only appears in the editor). So changing the individual colors of brushes in the 2d and 3d view, kind of like highlighting your textbook. Makes it eaiser to see, find and distingush, that you can toggle on and off.

What you guys think/is it possible?

:-D

I think it would be easier on the mapper if he could highlight the floor red and the ceiling yellow so he can better see where to put his pillar.

Or when trying to align things up on the side view, different colors help give you a better idea of where its going.

I'm sure you can think of some examples.

And it would be totally optional of course, and the highlighting would go away during the lighting preview. Or mabye you could choose, so as to better figure out where your lights are going...

You need to change the Camera Background colour to achieve this, so this works already.

Brushes cannot be coloured at the moment, only entities can. As soon as I found a more reliable way to save the layer information for individual primitives one can save more information than just the layers it's part of (grouping information or colours). This is more work, but feel free to push this issue to the tracker.

Somehow I admire the fact that the material from Dune has now been filmed for the third time. Personally, I could never do much with the material, but as a child of the 80s, I of course know the David Lynch movie...and that movie was at least funny!

Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.
