  3. the objects you can see in that dark messiah, can be done using a render def. I tried making that for my cyberpunk-fm. But I'm stuck a bit. (code in the spoiler)
  4. No, a special renderdef is not needed, because its a menugui, overlaying something. If someone would like to make a very small map and a scripter create a camera-script, we can comebine this in something nice. It remembers me of the intro of thievery-ut. (and hl2, ofcourse)

  7. I couldnt not find the code to make the menubuttons a bit transparant. (tried with "backcolor 0, 0, 0, 0.8", or do i have to use other command) Would be nice if someone takes over. So i can use my time for my cyberpunk fm.
  8. Scribbled a bit with D3 gui-editor. Something like this is what i had in mind. Imagine some soft music, city ambiencesounds and a guard walking by,.. (but im not a artist) I'm working on it.

  10. You dont want that, because it creates bandwidth problems on the side of the hosts. (Mo users, Mo problems ) For starters, let steam host the base-package. But i don't know where to host the fms. Maybe at the normal place its hosted now, But Is this wise?
  11. For the people who would like to design another mainmenu, i invite you to do so. (for starters only the mainmenu, not the submenus. because this takes time.) To me the mainmenu doesnt have to change in a functional way, only graphical. How about placing the mainmenu on the left, like thief 4 and modern games? And Adding a live fm-background, what Epifire mentioned, would also be nice. (lIs this possible? (how?) Or just a roq or 3dobject. To create a techdemo for mainmenu, create a folder named "guis", copy "mainmenu_"-files from tdm_gui01.pk4 to it and change the code. Or create a folder in the fm and do the things above. (could not find another way to do this)

  13. For inspiration for my cyberpunk fm, I have installed Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey and several D3 totalconversion mods. And looked at the mainmenus of thief 1 til 4. When i compare those menu's with the tdm mainmenu, i believe it can graphical do better. Especially when i look at menus from edge of chaos, grimm. (combining 2d, materials and sounds) background from gatehouse, etc. What are your opinions about it. See attachments for some inspiration. -edit- added word "graphical".
  14. got a unexpected holliday week (too much workhours). Everybody (friends and family) works on the coming week. So im going to spend some more hours on gui-development. Got doom 3 and prey installed for inspiration.

  15. A radius subtitle-system would be nice to implement. A new challenge?
  16. Does doom 3 cc have something like that? They are showing a radar in the video.
  17. Is it possible to add a "radius"-trigger (how its called(?) to the player/actors? So your script display the captions, when the player is nearby the actor/source. And the captions dont get displayed, when the player is far away of the actor/source? And is it possible to show captiontext, when something make a sound (like in the thief 3 walktrough- and doom 3 cc video?)
  18. Greebo, is it possible to make a build of tdm.app that runs every version of TDM? (tdm 2.05 earlier/later) How did you created the code? Did malex donation helped a bit?

  20. Succesfully tested on a macbook 2012 (with old mac os snow leapoard) Didnt noticed any errors. -edit- Technical info: I used playonmac (wine frontend) to download TDM using the updater 0.66. Copied tdm.app and tdm_game03.pk4 to the folder. (a folder in my library folder in my homefolder) In TDM 2.05 I downloaded and played some missions.
  21. Could you try this also with guards? For example: Captions of thief 3) How about positioning the text (and center) above the lightgem?
  22. If there are people who are willing to move the updatecheck-script from beneath the versionnumber button to somewhere else, where it can run automatically when the game starts. Mainmenu_main.gui says set "cmd" "check_tdm_version"; But how to run that "check_tdm_version"-scriptcommand in the console (to test it)? And later to add it in autoexec.cfg.
