  1. If you're going to go through life avoiding any book, newspaper, magazine, tv show, movie, CD, internet site, etc., that that mentions "jesus" or "fuck," you're going to be a pretty lonely person . Try buying a cabin out in the woods somewhere. Or, you know, try to co-exist.
  2. I hope they actually call it Thief 5, cuz I own thief5.com.
  3. (sigh) jtr, it's a bit silly to continue to blank your own posts out. This is a message board, where a conversation depends on all parts being intact. If you don't like some of the things your'e saying, then maybe you should think a bit more before posting them. Stop acting like a child.
  4. The game's been out a little over a week. I think most fans are still working on finishing the game. And to be honest, the majority of Thief fans (old or now) aren't nearly as pedantic as you are.
  5. I think anyone who's followed development of the game knew there would be references to the old factions. Some of the first images that came out during E3 last year showed the Medallion from the House of Blossoms with the Keeper glyphs, and there was also a Keeper statue shown too I believe. The devs have said all along there would be a lot of "nod" to the previous games. I think people complained more because the old factions weren't an integral part of the game. They wanted more than just a tip of a hat, they wanted to see Hammerites walking down the streets. @Airship - I have no idea what your animated GIF means. What/who is that?
  6. But you're not going to tell us what that is..? If it's the mannequin thing, that's been done before in other games prior to Rose Cottage.
  7. SE, do you remember where that info came from? I tried searching the web, but couldn't find anything.
  8. There's not (necessarily) a connection between the games reviews, sales, and the layoffs. Thief has shipped, the game is done - it's inevitable that some people wouldn't be needed anymore. I'm surprised only 5% of the team was laid off. That would seem to indicate that more DLC or even a sequel is in the works or planning stages. Otherwise, what would the other 95% of the staff be working on?
  9. I think they meant something like "based on" in regards to look and feel. I kinda doubt it's the same architecture and floorplan. But I found a savegame online for the Keeper Compound in TDS, so I'll fire it up tonight and see.
  10. Yeah, it's not very subtle at all. The medallion to get in to the complex has some of the standard Keeper glyphs too. Edit: @SE - are we sure it's the same layout? I haven't played that level in TDS in a long time, but it didn't feel all that familiar to me. Especially all the rotating staircases and the library being over a big cavern type terrain.
  11. Trust me, I hate the contextual movements, the linear gameplay, the "on rails" stuff etc. I've been bitching about it for the past year since E3 2013. But no, not a deal breaker. Obviously not, I still bought the game.
  12. If the game was a 3rd person Assassin's Creed wannabe, and Stephane Roy came in and made it first person, I'll buy the guy a beer. For a Thief game, that makes all the difference in the world. 3rd person would have been a dealbreker for me (and I'm sure many other Thief fans).
  13. Just curious though - if I say I actually like the new game and am enjoying it, does that mean I'm "spitting on" the existing Thief games and their legacy? Sorry, but I'm not on board with that.
  14. I've been playing slow and methodical. I've finished chapter 4, but have logged 25+ hours with the game so far. Spent most of my time checking out every corner of the City Hub and some of the side missions.
  15. This might be the fix everyone has been looking for - disabling the Shroud: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showpost.php?p=1990527&postcount=27
  16. Thanks for putting that all together biker. I noticed there's quite a few "Thief 4" topics in the forum right now - was thinking it would be really funny if TDM actually created a dedicated Thief 4 forum.
  17. If you still need that stuff NH, send me a PM.
  18. Oldjim, what are your PC specs?
  19. I think he was referring more to why you pasted it 10 times in a row. For emphasis, I'm guessing.
  20. Not sure if this is a good example either, but I think a lot of diehard Fallout fans weren't too thrilled with Fallout 3, but they did like New Vegas. So maybe Eidos passes off Thief to a dev similar to Obsidian, if Thief only sells decent to moderate, and they tweak the game and turn it into something at least a little closer to what Thief fans want. Personally, I loved both Fallout games, so it doesn't apply to me, but it's just a thought.
  21. @grayman - loved this mission, one of the best so far for TDM. Great exploration mission - as someone else said, it was the first time I've really needed the compass. I was stuck and once I realized the direction I need to go (from the map), I figured everything out. I ended up with 3500 loot, can't believe I missed so much, this will give me a great excuse to go back and replay. The readables were great, they really told a whole other story that wasn't in the objectives. Very much looking forward to the next installment and Keep up the great work.
  22. What, so that means that part is just dead now, and won't ever happen?
  23. There's a particularly scathing user review of the game from thiefinthedark, based on watching it on video from start to finish, that interested people might (or quite frankly, might not) want to read: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143294&p=2236359&viewfull=1#post2236359 Keep in mind, this guy has always been on the more critical side of the game over the last few years while it's been in development.
  24. There's finally something official out, on EM's blog: http://community.eidosmontreal.com/blogs/Thief-Modding-Contest The wording is really kind of bad. It says "Your entries may be based on Thief Gold, truly a great source of inspiration." It doesn't say anything about using Thief 2 or The Dark Mod. Then, at the bottom, it just says "To get the Dark Mod, voted PC Gamers Mod Of The Year in 2013, or for more information on how to create a mod, visit thedarkmod.com." Whoever put this press release out made it sound really confusing. Tbh, if you're going to use Thief over TDM, you're more than likely going to use Dromed 1.21, because that's the most recent version, and it's for T2. So why are they pimping Thief Gold? Oh, and btw, the release does say voting will be handled by "the community, members of the Thief development team, and member of the Dark Mod team." So I guess you guys are voting after all. This whole thing seems just kind of screwed up and not planned very well. I can't see them getting too big a turnout for this.
  25. So you can create a mod for the contest using the Thief IP, take a video of it to enter in the contest...but then you can't release it for people to play?
