  1. A lot of things should happen in Brazil. But that's exactly why it's Brazil.
  2. So another strife for next year is whether Israel gets to host Eurovision?

it will be in jerusalem, expect it to get blown up, security will be very tight and there will probably be a lot of shooting, and people throwing things.

Especially since the US has now moved their embassy there.

They might just put it in Tel-Aviv if the world resists because there might be no infrastructure and terrorism is bad rep.

  3. I thought kurwa was the best word in Polish.
  4. More details please. Deus Ex politics were mostly cheesy conspiracies. But it was fun seeing various speculations with the endings - how to balance society between instincts of human social animals and justice for society.

  7. Shame that every action was so short-sighted in this regard. :/
  8. Fatigue and exhaustion. Everybody needs a respite.
  9. Agreed but some people are proverbial slowpokes like me.
  10. Most exploitative thing in Thief was strafe jumping like in Quake.
  11. I'm not sure it has to be changed either. The problematic concerns more how fast they react to the failure. But that's a thing to get used to. Overall at the moment where things feel awkward in indeed is swordfighting, especially with Builders carrying hammers. They're really quick. Does anyone feel like combat could use a Mount & Blade like setting to adjust the speed of battles (animations)?
  12. Movement is faster in TDM. However NPC barks and yelling when spotting the PC are not as bombastic. I think that's causing this impression. Thief Deadly Shadows also had an animation playing when backstabbing/blackjacking when you adjust yourself correctly. So, very rarely would you ever get such situations at all. It just prevents the NPC from turning around when you've catched him in the correct position. Thief is just slower in movement. But at the same time lets the player run pretty fast in comparison to NPC's. Even when guards are in pursuit. It's purely subjective IMHO but that's how it feels. If a guard is on a stroll when on patrol in Thief, in TDM it's almost like he's moving at least a quarter faster then that.
  13. True. But there is a feeling that you can land more blackjack hits per second in TDM when the NPC is alert before he draws the weapon out then in the old games. But the older games felt slower anyway. Engine thing I guess.
  14. No offense intended. But what is not as obvious as in Thief 1,2 and 3 is when a guard becomes alert. I.e. in the old games they played an animation usually before fully alert shortly earlier then drawing swords. Also many people point out that exclamation barks were the yappiest in older games. But depends on the NPC type.
  15. I believe everything is consistent under the auspices of all types of helmets.
  16. The last one is decent. Never understood why TDM has a loud sound for taking a blackjack. The original Thief trilogy had a very silent blackjack upon drawing and holstering it.
  17. Oh wow so Daggerfall got a DaggerXL release: https://github.com/Mindwerks/XLEngine

Daggerfall was the least playable due to bugs and glitches. Impossible to patch with the old engine.

Therefore one of the least popular Elder Scrolls.

Does this update have less bugs than original or more? =)

Less I hope. That's the whole point.

  18. Same as with the undead in Thief Deadly Shadows. Also oil thrown on the ground makes them slip like any NPC.
  19. Please don't be offended but ghettos don't appear just because foreigners don't want to integrate. The idea is that Europe as a whole was always more conservative (some states more than others of course). Proper urban management, well planned gentrification policies and in general a state built around liberalism, tolerance and education of anyone wiling to work and learn is what makes all the difference in the long run. And besides all knowledge comes by drawing comparison. Complaints were made after the 90's when eastern europeans flooded the west. But when muslims came by the numbers lately, everyone forgot about the aforementioned eastern neighbors. Therefore it's a subjective impression, more out of xenophobia and rationalization of a phenomenon we struggle to understand than anything else.
  20. And then billions of euros are paid to Turkey in the name of keeping migrants from Syria farther from Europe. And rule of law will only spiral downwards in Erdogans's Turkey. A huge problem is the internal politics and mistakes done in civilized countries. Furthermore all that happens is repeating those mistakes in foreign policy.
  21. Still, it's scientifically proven that swearing and offensive words reduce stress. Where's the right for women swear in public like men do? I think it's more about finding a way to channel the hate and express emotions in not a socially harmful way. But in regards to "weak" categories - most of the ones you mentioned fall into the disabled group, according to the Convention on rights of persons with disabilities. IMHO, the point is just to raise awareness and inspire empathy in people. After all, if evolution of the human species is about reducing violence and having a more inclusive society - why not step by step attempt to provide benefits to the people who have been historically oppressed? What other way Is there to reduce polarization? You'll probably agree that uniting in the name of common goals and interests brings better results then a principal approach to everything in life. That is exactly such a chance. Nobody knows the end result. But the idea is better than anything before it. Also, aren't the worst liberals less harmful than the worst conservatives?
  22. Except Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria and a couple of others. Especially handguns for self-defense. Moldova too. It's about gun culture. Not just bragging rights that can have someone shoot themselves in the foot in the best case. Very true. You've also mentioned about social justice warriors imposing a certain narrative in the free world, however the question is rather, aren't those laws to protect minorities - muslims, jews acting to safeguard and maintain "The better angels of our nature"? Humans are violent, reckless social animals and that's exactly why this is not just a discussion on free speech but also about taking away a little of that meritocracy, in the name of tolerance, in the name of positive discrimination for the weak among us. Correct me if I'm wrong but in your articles you kinda disagree with all that.
  23. Sorry, but you have to be paranoid to say that in the EU. The dark net or at the very minimum proxy whereas for the more advanced users it's not totally discounted to be coerced into using The Tor .onion in Russia. Avoiding state censorship and blocking of sites including lurkmore.to, Kasprov, Horokovsky or anything remotely connected to political stuff. That's a new definition of dictatorship. In the EU and even in the US many cases are dumbed down, ripped out of context to give the impression that a certain decision is unfair. But without reading the arguments on both sides and the full motivation on merits and judgments it's pure speculation to delve any further. For example "Town of Castle Rock v Gonzales". Proponents of self-defense with the employment authorization of firearms just come to the conclusion that your own safety is your responsibility. In no country the police will be there when something happens to you without danger in concern to public safety. Everybody knows that.
