  1. We started with the Doom engine mainly because it can do everything we need it to do. Half life 2 is a great engine no doubt but it doesn't offer us anything for a Thief Style mod that we can't do with Doom 3. There is also the inconvenience of Steam, which I personally do not agree with. I've tried the demo and gone through the registration. Now I'm not saying that my time is so valuable I can't spare a few extra minutes but it's an extra hassle that I don't want as a game player. I also wondered why I should have to pay for the game AND pay for the crime? As for co-op. That would require changing the focus of the mod. Classic Thief is a single player experience and we really want to recreate that feeling. If you've played the Thievery co-op you know how different it is. For co-op enthusiasts there is the amazing "Night Blade" mod, no need to compete. Our efforts are best spent filling the single player gap.
  2. Wow, thanks for the detailed information. That certainly sounds exciting. I can't wait to try it.
  3. Bless you. Spar, you must get something for that cold.
  4. Even after all these years, it still causes people to scream in horror.
  5. The sword sheathe and unsheathe also sounded a little busy. Almost like he was trying to get the sword in but missed the first time. LOL Sorry to be so picky, but in my head I hear a nice clean schwiiiing.

    Trees

Looks fantastic, but I would suggest extending the trunk of the tree as it's a bit short. Otherwise WOWSAS
  7. I have Thievery as well. Wouldn't mind taking a walk through and seeing things first hand as well.
  8. Yes, we would sure like to see some screens. That would be great!
  9. My cousin is a lawyer. I'll try to get hold of him and ask him a few questions. As long as we're not using their models I don't see any problems coming up. Especially if they are not exact replicas and are just inspired by the original, as yours was. While Thievery was indeed multiplayer it is still possible to get pretty thiefy in it. Especially when you see some of the textures they have ingame...if they're not the original textures, then by george they're great recreations.

    Trees

Should trees just be included in a foliage package?
  11. We definately need to include more classic style objects like this. It's just a really nice nod to the classic games. Something TDS could have done but didn't. I fully expected to see some hi quality versions of the classic models in T3...not that I expected the whole game to be like that...but just enough to establish the game worlds physical continuity. I won't bother veering off into a rant about the horrible models in T3. I shall leave that honor to oDDity. His models are "the way things should have been". It would be nice if we put together a nice little screen shot later down the road with some classic style models and textures. Mmmm, classic style street lamp would be nice too.
  12. That's gorgeous. Way to go.
  13. BT, you are my hero. That looks fantastic!!!
  14. Yeah, there really shouldn't be a problem with recreating it. It's just a sweeping sound, nothing truly original about how they did it. Now, if we tried to use the original file...that would be an issue. We would want a higher quality version to call our own anyway. I like the revised low pickup, perhaps if the low hum in the file were toned down and the jingle sound were brought more to the forefront it may help a bit. Great work by the way. This stuff sounds great!!!
  15. Was the original T1/ 2 loot pickup sound a xylophone? You're absolutely right though....we could easily just recreate it, it's not like it's a masterful composition.
  16. I quite like this idea. I'm with you on the winding animation being overkill though.
  17. Ahhh yes. Your revisions are very good saxmeister. The change to the underground ambience made all the difference in the world. As for the loot pickup, my personal preference would be the loot pickup lo sfx. That one sounds pretty much bang on, though it could be a tiny bit faster..without changing the pitch.
  18. Whatever the final verdict is, it's most likely going to be something that will require a mild suspension of our disbelief. If FM authors dislike what we decide on, they can easily change the sound and the model themselves...and no doubt some will.
  19. Wow, these T2 style textures look amazing. Great work BT.
  20. It's also a good attempt to keep a common theme amongst the arrows. It's sudden and jarring.
  21. My own personal choice would be an arrow that shatters on impact or the traditional magic arrow that made the hypnotic sound.
