I went on to explain that when I viewed the poll I was considering commercial games... as the other options provided were of that category, so TDM just didn't fit in my mind. I further stated that I see TDM more as a platform.

This is exactly the type of hyperbole I speak of. One only has to view the posts on the official forum to see this simply is not true. __ Back to the proper topic, TDM FAQs describe it as a game and a toolkit. A bit off topic, sorry, but does anyone know why the "new way of looking at Thief 4" is locked? There's quite a few deleted posts in there; so not sure if I'm just late for the party and missed the reason why it was locked.

Thank you. ___ Firstly, the official forum thread is not full of said attitude... it is full of diverse opinions from different people; just like in this thread. Your thread title asks "Is TDM a Game?"... so there is clearly uncertainty; so no different to the questions and answers being put forward on the official forum, surely. Secondly, there is no attempt by the mods to "salvage the reputation of Thief". This makes absolutely no sense as there isn't reason for them to care one way or the other. Individuals who happen to be 'mods' are not on the Eidos payroll; they are merely fans of the game(s) like yourself, with their own likes/dislikes, like yourself. The boring truth is that there is no conspiracy theory... not sure why some people insist on believing there is. As for the personal attacks/hyperbole/nonsense in this thread; best ignored I guess. Just a shame it is sanctioned by "admin". I was hoping TDM forum would remain a significant notch higher than others out there... but clearly I expected too much.

By their very nature, harmless posts/threads are never deleted.... merged elsewhere perhaps, but not deleted. All discussion regarding the petition remains in the "Meet Romano" thread, as far as I recall. EM responded to the petition and stated they were happy with their new voice actor and would not change their mind. It was respectfully requested that no links to the petition be posted on the official forum as they did not wish to give fans any false sense of hope.

Fans are quite free to express their opinions on the official forum and have done so since day one. If you believe the devs didn't listen/listen enough to the fans, then this has absolutely nothing to do with apparent censorship on the forum. Speech that is rude/offensive etc is removed in accordance with the terms and conditions.... and rightly so.

The instructions are already there in the ToU and the Usage Policy; the general rule is that mods do what they think they must do to ensure the rules and policies are respected. By your logic, that would mean you expect mods to leave spam, personal insults, torrent links and whatever else, blah blah, on the forum until instructed by a superior to remove it. I did ask, don't worry... but as its the weekend, there was nobody in the office; so I deleted "just in case". This happens with all sorts of threads and posts. Either way, posts are only ever soft-deleted; meaning they can be restored easily enough. No biggie; honestly/ Haha, no I meant please do prod and stab me with those pitchforks "for now" - meaning until you get bored.

I guess it would seem that way... but to be honest, I spent little time on the forum that day (because I'm playing the game) and that just happened to be one of the threads I briefly viewed; hence the action.

I have just finished Chapter One and I'm enjoying the game so far. No disappointment. It definitely feels like Thief and the City is gorgeous. I'm playing slow and stealthy.... I'm not rushing the game. Whether the narrative proves compelling remains to be seen.... I'll find out for myself soon enough. Has anyone here actually finished the game?

Just to clarify. It wasn't "my own personal choice...", it was down to my own personal understanding of part of the Materials Usage Policy. I explained the situation in that thread as best I could. If you wish to froth, snarl and hate on me, carry on. No need to take it out on EM.
