  1. no, not yet, they are still at release 1 (well 1.02) which just aim to porting arx to newer system and linux... hope they'll do this...
  2. Actually Activision made one of my prefered game... Sin
  3. sorry to repeat myself, but have you seen this? http://arx-libertatis.org/
  4. didn't at least the mechnist and Karras already discovered Atlantis?
  5. hum, the closest to thief is without any doubt the dark mod, but you ought to know... edit: most "stealth" game I can think of relly on a "hide" skill... if you've got it nothing can see you, you just don't care about lights, sound or wathever. I remember doing a bit of thievery in Arx Fatalis, but it's also based on skill and much less realistical/fun than thief... there's even an open source project to maintain the game for newer systems => http://arx-libertatis.org/ it's only partially thief like if you want it, but it's otherwise a great game to play. hail poxelius for me if you play it.
  6. personally I'm always astonished when I see people on ttlg forum saying they prefer thief2 over thief 1 (or the contrary) and they don't know about the dark mod as they never tryed... I dunno how to encourage them to try more, but there you've a lot of potential players/mappers...
  7. this thread might at least make mappers obvious to the fact that, for a good map design, the player should be able to climb if he feels like it would be usefull or normal...
  8. In my opinion this poll is a moot point, it's up to the mapper to choose in every case... as a player, theses elements should be climbable only if they look you can climb on it and the lead somewhere... it's fristating when you see a place where you should obviously be able to climb and it would greatly help you but you just can't... but it's definately up to the mapper to either make it look not climbable or allow us to climb on it
  9. I havn't checked the specs, but with a display like that It'dd be quite logical to choose a soc without GPU... cost and consumption wise at least...
  10. hum... ..Glue some gear on it and call it steampunk...
  11. isn't it just the lantern with shade? it looks quite hightech but I always wondered how garett was traveling with a fire lantern that he can completly hide in the dark while it is still burning... edit: the video looks cool but how does that relate to gameplay? and if they would make garett looks more garett-ish and less ninja that would be much better
  12. if you look at this kind of perf what about PCI-E drives?
  13. hum, wouldn't the Blackjack be a more appropriate solution?
  14. that japanese storm sewer also remind me Akira...
  15. hum, japanese sewer are not only lighted but simply incredible (ok they are storm sewers, not regular sewers...) http://www.archdaily.com/3591/giant-storm-sewer-system-sitama-japan/

    First Questions

I was playing like that at T2 long ago... try to ghost the mission is much more fun that way...
  17. Strange, no one even mantionned my prefered and one of the most underrated fps... SiN... I haven't tested it on my new computer with windows se7en but since i have it through steam I'dd imagine it'll work on new hardware (well the steam one, and i'm downloading it to test it). I'm not speaking of the half bad SiN Episode: emergence, but of the originial SiN... the episode game is quite bad edit: hum, just adding a link sin @ mobygame
  18. got a new update, now playing on 1440*900 with aa2x, bloom at minimum. 10.4seconds resulting in 284.4 fps... I'm using a core i5 2500 +4Gb of ram, and a nice AMD hd6950 guess it was time to build myself a new computer.
  19. I understood the difference between the "substractive" world of dark engine and the one used by doom, and I know converting a map would not be a simple task, but you're really sure it would not be possible?
  20. hum, now that we have all the informations on the file formats, AI and everything else, wouldn't it be possible to create an "importer" for thief1+2 FM using the original game data for thedarkmod?
  21. hum, I had less than 1fps right after the start when looking left... that's a great news...
  22. it's sad for the 18- but is the dark mod really concerned? I was thinking it was only played by people that played thiefs for the last 12years, menaing that they almost all are over 18...
  23. hum, 2x512Mb random generic DDR => 2x1Gb balistix cl2.5 = first run 45.6 FPS second run 58,8 FPS not a bad upgrade
