  1. Well, your wish may become true some day: http://warfortheoverworld.com/
  2. I'd like to know if this is a one-time slip or if this approach is already employed on a massive scale. If the latter is the case, I'd like you to post links to the respective articles.
  3. How reliable is that info? I'd like to be able to quote it if it comes from a legitimate source.

There are also a couple of pics that weren't on the allgamesbeta website. Please find them here. Enjoy anatomically correct models!

    Doom4 Hyrra

There are new Doom 4 artworks and (possibly) screenshots available. Enjoy!
  6. Joystiq has an interview with Frictional Games (Anmesia) and thechineseroom (Dear Esther) joining forces to develop the next installment of Amnesia. It's said to take place way before The Dark Descent, sharing the universe but nothing else. You will find a short description here, and the full interview here. Dark Project anyone?:
  7. However, let's not forget that TTLG's moderators encourage this behaviour by allowing it to happen. Here, pricks are banned when they pissed everyone off enough. There, they are allowed to spew their venom. I wonder why anyone bothers to still visit TTLG. It's not like there is no alternative - say, the TDM forum.
  8. Good riddance, little shit. Hope you either learn from it (which I don't believe - he had three accounts on moddb and got banned on all three for trolling) or stay in darkfate.
  9. The problem with using Cloud storage is always that you have to use strong encryption for all your data - unless you want any other party (be it intelligence services or the storage provider or just plain cyber criminals) to read all your files. Fortunately, Europe is very cautious regarding the over-hyped Cloud. Hope it stays that way.
  10. With a software like Nero Burning ROM, there is only so much you can under-speed a disc. Usually they have information embedded that tells the drive how fast their writing speeds are (as in 2x, 4x, 8x, etc). So far, I was either lucky or the discs/drive did as they should. I still have only a lowly DVD +/- RW drive, as I don't see any sense in buying a Bluray drive. After all, external 2,5" drives (that don't require any external power source) have broken the 1 TB barrier.
  11. lost_soul, have you tried to burn your disks with the lowest speed possible? I do this to prevent any write errors I had in the past. This way, I have to wait for half an hour to finish a disk, but the error rate is really low (when measured afterwards). Also, you could consider using a cleaning disc for your drive lens. Who knows, maybe it has a (dust) particle on it.
  12. In the x86 world, AMD has been a technology leader in many regards, be it the integrated memory controller, the x64 extension or the merging of CPU and GPU. Hope they'll survive long enough to make everyone realize the benefits of the Bulldozer architecture - and to make the devs actually use the multi/many core potential that is still largely untapped.
  13. MoroseTroll, I'll have to check that (later) because you translated "#str_10157" "An Old Lock Key" "#str_10158" "An Old Sewer Key" as "Key for an old lock" and "Key for the old Sewer". Tels, Hyeron and the other translators, until now I was under the impression that "old" refers to "key". Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
  14. Tels, just a short reply: I checked the german.lang and found that there are untranslated strings. Those strings are missing from the all.lang. Examples: "#str_08603" "A Note" "#str_08604" "A Letter" "#str_08605" "Paperscrap" "#str_08606" "Piece of paper" "#str_08607" "A Paper" "#str_08608" "A Scroll" "#str_08609" "A Book" I'm too tired to do anything about it this evening, but I'll take care of this and Russian tomorrow. By the way, I found that those last strings are untranslated for German too: "#str_10156" "An Old Iron Key" "#str_10157" "An Old Lock Key" "#str_10158" "An Old Sewer Key" I'm starting to get how you feel - for every problem fixed, two new arise... :-/
  15. That's true. Currently, I'm looking at the beauty of SMAA and wonder if that's feasible for OpenGL too. Do you have any insight on that?
  16. I sent you MoroseTroll's russian.lang via e-mail. Hope you can get this working.
  17. Sorry, I didn't see your post before. Yes, I did experiment with renaming the doom3.exe, but TDMlauncher doesn't recognize it. This must absolutely be implemented in the tdmlauncher's code. Greebo is the only one who can do it. Tels will be offline for at least two weeks, and besides, he's a script guy, not a coder.
  18. You must use the Nvidia Inspector, if you haven't yet. With N.I., you can enable almost ony mode, although you won't be able to choose Sparse Grid Super-Sampling Anti Aliasing but the inferior Ordered Grid Super-Sampling Anti Aliasing. I feel like a nerd to actually know what these abbreviations mean. Damn, I just remembered: I *am* a nerd! ^^
  19. MoroseTroll also has found quite a few mistakes. He posted an updated russian.lang in darkfate, and when I did a compare between the TDM russian and his new russian lang file, I noticed quite a few errors that I can't remember to have noticed during testing.
  20. Samwise, glad to hear you got this sorted out. However, it might be beneficial for you to lower the AA settings to 4x and activate SS-AA. You need a registry hack for that. I seem to remember that I posted to whole procedure here, but if you don't find it through a search, I'll give you a detailed instruction. The method works with Radeon HD4k GPUs, but only with OpenGL. I fnd that SS-AA is way more pleasant than the standard MS-AA.
  21. Just two quick answers: AMD is working together with Microsoft to release an updated version of the Windows scheduler, so that workloads will be handled more efficiently on a Bulldozer system. This will allow for up to 5 percent performance increase. "We are also working with Microsoft on a scheduler update for Windows 7 that will be available soon." While this will probably not do much to mend and IPC that's on par with the first Phenoms, it might bring some relief to this struggling CPU. Also, Intel has yet to release a graphics system that can compete with anything that's already on the market. If you remember, the grahics drivers are universally so woefully bad that gaming is mostly next to impossible. AMD is way ahead with its APUs (Llano and Bobcat). (By the way, my mother has a 15" HP laptop with a Bobcat APU, and it works like a charm.) Intel's Atom plattform is sub-par if compared to AMD's Bobcat plattform. This proves (again) that throwing money at something that is not your core competence will not necessarily make you a leader in that segment.
  22. Well, Tels told me that he is probably offline for the whole December because of his ISP (unless he decides to get himself a mobile Internet stick), so this issue will have to wait until he gets back online. Sorry to hear that things are bad with the French translation. I'll check the German version this weekend, to see if anything was goofed up while compiling. However, during beta-testing the German version, me and Tels found most of the obvious bugs and fixed them. Hyeron, can you name a particularly bad example and what it really should look like?
  23. LOL No, you are describing the normal driving on the Autobahn A9 into Munich, where have your Powerful German Car up at the speed of 200 km/h and you STILL have the grille of an Even More Powerful German Car in your rear view mirror, whose driver is chatting relaxed into his cell phone.
  24. I might be mistaken, but do you really think that a ATI Mobile 4670 (probably with 512 MB RAM or less) is powerful enough to run TDM with AA enabled?
