a lot of sound in Thief/TDM have been used in movies and such.

All sorts of sounds, like the Wilhelm Scream, and I've heard the door open/close noises from Doom in a few shows as well.

I wonder why this is used so widely. Are there a few game freaks working in the sound creation segments of the movie industry, extracting the sounds from game or what?
