https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-s-flagship-RX-7900-XTX-GPUs-discovered-to-integrate-A0-silicon-revision-affected-by-serious-hardware-issues.674766.0.html https://wccftech.com/rumors-allege-amd-shipped-unfinished-rdna-3-navi-31-a0-gpu-silicon-in-radeon-rx-7900-series/ I recommend not buying the 7900 XTX or XT. There may be a flaw in the hardware or drivers that is shaving off 10-20% of the performance.

https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/free-games First free game is Bloons TD 6, and there's a new game every 24 hours. TBH, I'd actually play it. I've played one of the browser-based predecessors before.

IDK about GOG, but my understanding is that Epic Games Store is not profitable, and isn't expected to be before 2027. https://www.pcgamer.com/epic-has-sunk-dollar500m-into-the-epic-games-store-doesnt-expect-to-make-a-profit-until-2027/ But they have made so much money from Fortnite that they can afford to take the hits in order to establish themselves as at least the industry's #2 behind Steam. I find GOG to be the most "trustworthy" platform with some exceptions, and Steam to be the most interesting/useful with their huge support for Linux gaming via Proton/WINE contributions and the Steam Deck.

This is probably the start of better-than-usual giveaways from Epic Games. Starting with Saints Row IV + All DLC, and Wildcat Gun Machine. Next week's free game is not named to build hype.
-
As a space horror kind of game, it makes a decent case for realism and raytracing. Much like stealth games would be a great fit for raytracing, while it's just fluff in a racing game. All I've heard about it is some of the hype in recent weeks, and some Wccftech dunking on Nvidia/AMD recommended specs. Didn't hear about any trashing of the game until you referenced it.

What's the stuttering about? High specs needed or the game isn't optimized?

This "free game" had an outside audit done on it to help make sure that the total conversion from Doom 3 and all of its assets were legally protected. So there is definitely heightened sensitivity around these issues and they should not be dismissed out of hand. https://www.newmediarights.org/taxonomy/term/421 -

Some here will reject this due to copyright concerns, I think. Even though it may be extraordinarily difficult to unbake this cookie and find out what it's made of, to the satisfaction of a court. -
Terroir 100% off on GOG Terroir is a 3D tile-based tycoon game where you manage your very own vineyard. In Terroir, you grow a variety of different grape varietals, craft your wine, and expand and manage your Estate. You'll also have to deal with factors such as weather and random events, which can either make or break your business. https://www.gog.com/en/game/terroir https://www.gog.com/giveaway/claim

It's free... I'm assuming forever for Witcher 3 owners (I bought it for $10 and haven't played lol). It includes FSR 2 and DLSS support, so it could be genuinely useful for low-end systems that can't quite hit 60 FPS at the target resolution. I can find an example from the ETA Prime channel later. https://videocardz.com/newz/the-witcher-3-next-gen-update-comes-with-amd-fsr-2-and-nvidia-dlss-support

The assets are too damn good. BTW, does anybody need beta testers for December mission releases?

It's harder to count on Black Friday these days, and there can be stellar deals any time of the year. There will probably be better prices for these specs later on, but it's adequate for under $1k and more than enough performance for years to come. It sounds like it's somewhat repairable too because it's not using a proprietary PSU.

hHmhmMHmmhmhmmm sounds effing familiar https://slickdeals.net/f/16179634 Did you pay $899 + tax at Costco?

Something like this strikes me as a better idea, but it's hard to know who to trust because so many hubs/electronics are cheap junk: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Acuce-A10-Pro-14-in-1-portable-hub-with-M-2-SSD-enclosure-now-crowdfunding-on-Kickstarter.665621.0.html

You'll probably hit a CPU bottleneck somewhere. Also, you are on PCIe 2.0 which could have a small impact on GPU performance. Reminder to self to show you something later (much later).

Grab Jazz Jackrabbit 2 before Nov 3, 9 AM EDT. https://www.gog.com/giveaway/claim https://www.gog.com/en/game/jazz_jackrabbit_2_collection Pretty nostalgic because I remember watching the trailer for this game... over 20 years ago, included on a disc for Railroad Tycoon II. It's also an early game from the company now known as Epic Games... shouldn't they be the ones giving it away for free?
