  1. I'm pretty sure that all the SDK code changes are in the DLL.
  2. // entity # { "classname" "info_player_start" "name" "info_player_start_1" "angle" "180" "origin" "204 -60 912" "diff_1_change_0 origin diff_1_arg_0" "200 -56 912" "diff_2_change_0 origin diff_2_arg_0" "-232 -232 912" } Then something is wrong with the the way I've applied the diff_1_change syntax above? Can a conditional be inserted in the above like: If tdm_difficulty == 2 "origin" "x x x" ?
  3. (As ungoliant had mentioned to another user in another thread) You may need to update your nvidia GeForce 8600GT drivers. If Dell doesn't have newer (or the latest) version available you may need to use the Mobility Modder Tool to convert desktop drivers to laptop ones... Before trying anything drastic, see if you can find the Multi-Threaded Optimization area in your nVidia driver settings (nview?) and disable that setting...
  4. No problem. Here is the wiki but I'm not sure how comprehensive it is, you may want to post your specific idea so someone who has done something similar can chime in. Also, v1.03 apparently has a bunch of Stim and Response code cleanup... http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Stim/Response
  5. I don't see anything in the Stim and Response wiki that says that models wont work...
  6. Sorry Biker, I will have to experiment more this evening... I'm at work now
  7. OK, multiple info_player_start entities with "diff_X_nospawn 1" does not work. I will now try removing all but one entity and give it diff angles... Edit: using the diff_x_change didn't work... now will try teleport...
  8. I will give it a go when I get home (if the wife doesn't prevent me from working on it)...
  9. // entity # { "classname" "info_player_start" "name" "info_player_start_1" "angle" "180" "origin" "204 -60 912" "diff_1_change_0 origin diff_1_arg_0" "200 -56 912" "diff_2_change_0 origin diff_2_arg_0" "-232 -232 912" } The diff should be applied to the same entity not separate ones...
  10. How about creating Teleport entities then using "diff_X_nospawn 1" on them?
  11. You need to apply the "diff_N_change_0 origin diff_N_arg_0 -2530 795 -5" values to one entity. Like: diff_N_change_0 origin diff_0_arg_0 -2530 795 -5 diff_N_change_0 origin diff_1_arg_0 -2530 795 -6 diff_N_change_0 origin diff_2_arg_0 -2530 795 -7 OR Use the "diff_X_nospawn 1" for each copied player (again, not sure how well that works) (Sorry, still flying by the seat of my pants on this but that is how the syntax looks)...
  12. Maybe an easier method: Copy the info_player_start entity to different locations and give each copy a different name. Then use the "diff_X_nospawn 1" values to exclude the positions that you don't want to spawn for a specific difficulty. Risky business not sure if this would crash....
  13. Maybe a Teleport? http://modetwo.net/d...fficulty_Levels http://modetwo.net/d...orting_entities Edit: Looks like you could add difficulty based position data directly to the info_player_start entity by adding: diff_N_change_0 origin diff_N_arg_0 -2530 795 -5 (for distance offset) and if you want to get fancy change the angle: "diff_1_change_0" "angle" "diff_1_arg_0" "+45" If I read these wikis correctly...
  14. Yes, Religion isn't really the root of Gay-Bashing per se. It is an evolutionary remnant of alpha-male behavior and protecting the gene-pool from undifferentiated genders. Religion merely codifies the early human's instinctual feelings about Gay people into a dogmatic document. (I recall this concept being posited somewhere so I might look this up rather than leaving it as another thing I just pulled out of my arse )
  15. Pay no mind to my "peanut gallery" comments. I just like to throw links and resources out there in case they might help. I'm happy that you have it working at all.
  16. Yep. Momentum should be emergent by function of the mass parameter http://www.modwiki.net/wiki/Entitydef_%28decl%29 ...based on how JC Denton explained the momentum behavior for bullets in his mod ?
  17. Sorry Aprilsister. I was just trying to be silly because I know this mouse-wheel bug is one of LEGION's (our resident wildman of the forums , in close competition with myself... ) pet peeves about v1.02. I didn't mean to accuse you of bitching and moaning. We are all curious about the release schedule and what the wizards of Broken Glass Studios are up to...
  18. Try this: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Mission_Title_Screen_while_Loading
  19. If someone out there with C++ compiling experience wanted to upload a mouse-wheel patched version of TDM v1.02 to the torrents I'm sure it would pacify a couple of the grumpy folks. The patch is attached to this tracker entry: http://bugs.angua.at/view.php?id=2234 I'm not asking the Team to do it, as they are busy on the next release but if any coders are out there and want to help it'll take a little pressure off the team regarding the next release (not that whining really adds much pressure, it'll be done when it's done...).
  20. What GPU vendor (ATI vs nVidia vs Intel...)? If ATI, have you disabled Catalyst AI? Did you follow-up and upgrade to v1.02 (not sure if the Training Mission was revised for v1.02 and therefore is problematic on earlier releases...?)?
  21. WOW!!!! That should be in an updated Start Map example. Looks great!
  22. Ever since Vonnegut's "Ice Nine" fictional molecules\crystals have been compelling to me as well Fidcal. In fact, ice is an example of a crystalline structure that has a lower matter to vacuum density. To achieve the result you originally described you would need to make an ice-like structure from a very light element. They have actually gotten close to making solid hydrogen in recent experiments if I recall correctly. Anything that is significantly heavier, eg. metal, would probably be too heavy. So your main problem is that these lighter "ices" need to be ultra-cooled but there may be a way around this: 1) Create a small MEMS scale LASER entanglement device. 2) Create an enormous spherical molecule around this device 3) Entangle the key bonding atoms in the structure to a stronger bonding metal atom in the entanglement device 4) Inflate the structure by bonding other external biasing molecules around it (see "Strained Silicon") 5) Use energy pumped into the entanglement to keep the structure together in-spite of being stretched to near or beyond it's breaking point. Steps 1 and 2 are currently beyond our technological capability but not for long I suspect. Even without the MEMS device, perhaps creating something like bucky-balls and stretching the structure ala Strained Silicon would yield some interesting materials (although lighter-than-air would be unlikely?). At one time in my life, I thought about creating a science-fiction novel about the above MEMS example where the device was controlled in a scheme similar to DRM and would cause any material it was incorporated into to self-destruct at the behest of the big companies that controlled them. People would eat food with this structure in it and it would become incorporated into their bodies so that the big companies could kill dissidents simply by disabling the MEMS inside of people. It could also be used to create the molecules infinitely more unstable than any current chemical explosive and anti-corporate freedom-fighters would use this to their advantage...
  23. I have no fear of homosexuals precisely because I can't comprehend ever "being converted". It is as outlandish a concept to me as "being converted" to like drinking sewer water. Neither will happen so I have no fear of hanging out with or associating with gay people. (Other than having to visit my wife's BORING gay friends' house and talk about interior decor and antiques for hours... ...but I presume that "being boring" is not a typical gay trait so that is not really applicable to the discussion).
  24. Well sure, locker-room nudity is no big deal. I suppose I was not crude enough, I was trying not to directly state "penetration" or physical contact. I presume that even in Finland, straight men are not making physical contact with each others' erections. As for the utility for homosexuality, I like to believe it is a vestigial remnant of our former ability to switch genders when the supply of opposites is low. Similar to frogs. It would be interesting if they could re-enable the mechanism somehow... Some lady could yell at you and say "you have no idea what it's like being a woman" then you could switch into one and go "been there, done that, I survived, now stop nagging me."
  25. Fat is genetic. In the wild, we must scavenge and battle for even the smallest amount of food. Our genetic makeup is designed not to waste these calories. Only over the thousands of years of civilization have we begun to evolve higher metabolism to represent the new model of "fit" for a world with plentiful food through agriculture. If civilization and agriculture fail all the thin "high metabolism" folks will be truly fucked. I have a co-worker who has such a high metabolism he has to eat constantly throughout the day or he gets sick. I suspect that he would not last out in nature... The fat folk will be fine if society crumbles because they can live on crumbs and fumes. Fat folk don't have wasteful gas-guzzling metabolisms. Does this let fat folk off-the-hook for not controlling their temptations? No! But that is an entirely other topic. Gay? C'mon it's gotta be genetic. I simply can't see any scenario where I would want another male's genitals near me. Even if I were the most rebellious teen, that would not be on my list of options. No "peer" could convince me that another man's wang is the cool thing to "try". I had the worst father in the world, that does not make a protruding genital sound like fun in my book. I simply can't see any way someone can be into same-gender genitals unless it was programmed from birth. Yes, there are sexual gray areas but I'd say the bias towards one gender verses another seems pretty clear to me. Unless most straight men are happy to be in close proximity of each others' dongs and I'm just a weird anomaly with... penile aversion? or Ithyphallophobia? (Sorry to be so crude but someone had to say it...) I can't fathom any scenario that would make me change that preference. I don't buy any "nurture" explanation of the phenomenon.
