  1. Heresy! (In other words... play Thief 1.. every Thief/DM fan needs to be familiar with the game that started it all..!)
  2. Mini-map with an arrow pointed to objective, please?
  3. Yeah, you're right. I had forgotten. Because I remember still getting lost as hell in that mission.. even with the extra help. But I guess that's just my uniquely poor sense of directions.
  4. Good idea! The auto-map is something we need more of. I could have used it for BCD, also...
  5. Don't devalue yourself. This mod wouldn't be nearly what it is today, without your presence. And you know it, I think. Maybe these petty squabbles have led you to question your contribution. And that's not right. Anyway, here's hoping you'll eventually come to your senses. cheers
  6. That was my impression of the original post. This kind of thinking is both needless, as well as false.
  7. Can you elaborate a bit more on this? That last statement there could be seen as quite harsh, although I don't think you intended it as such.
  8. Perhaps, perhaps not. I've been playing first-person games for many years and I'm hardly any better with navigation. I often have moments where I go "am I supposed to go left, or right?" and it seems to echo the poor spatial-orientation I have in real life! Poor working memory may be a part of it, as well. I don't seem to commit "space" to memory.
  9. Anyone else find it very easy to get lost or disoriented in some missions? Going back through a lot of the same rooms, for example, not knowing where the right direction is? Or is it just me, with my "poor spatial orientation" etc? It's at its worst in very large missions, especially those without a map. For instance, The Ravine by Spoonman, I got lost constantly in this one.. I was barely able to find my way back to the start of the mission. I couldn't even remember where I started. It's a great mission, just too hard for one like me. I think I had the same problem with Crucibles 1: Behind Closed Doors, and that one actually had a map! But the mission was so large and sprawling I ended up backtracking and getting lost many times. At the end of it, I felt mentally exhausted and almost glad it was over. Still, a great mission overall. I'll have to replay it again, eventually. In summary, has anyone else dealt with this problem? Any strategies to improve spatial memory, etc?
  10. While I wouldn't go quite that far, I do believe this is on the right track. Besides, a fixed-mindset, especially at the individual level, is one of the most demotivating things possible.
  11. Hey there. What is your favorite TDM mission?

Crucible of Omens 1! That was a really long, tough mission. But also probably the most ambitious!

Just asking because you seem to have good taste in these things.

Volta and the Stone is a recent favorite of mine.

Thank you for the compliment! :)

I will try out Volta and the Stone too, as I did not yet!

Did you start to build your own map already? I can recommend doing so, as it is really a lot of fun to do!

Well, mapping is very complicated for me! As of now, it doesn't sound fun! :D

      Have you ever teach mapping?

  12. I'm in agreeance with this, and I'm a bright fellow. I definitely don't think IQ is fixed. I believe "nurture" is just as important as "nature."
  13. I'm with you on this. I think this whole thing is like a sadistic rant. That's all I can take away from it at this point, as this topic keeps getting brought up, with ever more coarse and disturbing language used to describe what they call "genetic crap."
  14. Hello, 00.. are you new here? What is your favorite Dark Mod mission? cheers

  15. Congratulations on finishing your first mission! I'm excited to try it, once it is packaged and released

  16. Whatever. I don't believe the "quality" of a person is quantifiable. We're all here; no one chose to be. I don't think one has to invoke facts and figures, socio-economic this or that, when talking about this stuff. If a man lacks higher education and he is autistic and not tall, does that "automatically" mean he is low quality and not fit? Who is the one making such a judgment? If he believes himself to be high quality, then for all intents and purposes, he is. Life is what you make of it, not what some facts and figures suggest or some nonsense about evolutionary psychology.
  17. Don't know about you folks, but I find that low social status guys--autistic, unaccomplished, whatever--are still pretty popular. They also have access to partners; not just tall guys with a law degree. I've rarely seen such bitter cynicism in my life, as in this thread.
  18. This would definitely would be the way to go. I wish more TDM missions had this, as well! Not everyone has great spatial orientation... so, something to help with that, would be appreciated! As for other suggestions... it seems like you are aiming for a very realistic stealth simulator. Personally, that's not really my thing. I think you need a good balance between realism and game design, etc. Sounds like a cool project, though
  19. Erm, the Thief games--as well as TDM--are not particularly violent. "First-person looter" as opposed to first person shooter, y'know?
  20. Hello, I see you are new here. Do you have a favorite Dark Mod mission?

      Greetings!

But I'm not so new xD I write not so often in this forum, I'm more the silent reader :D

I have no particular favorite. I prefer large missions with cities or mansions. Also in the last year I don't have many time to play.

      Cheers, Martin :-)

  21. Yes! I'd be interested, for one. For me, I stumbled upon TDM shortly after going through Thief 1, 2, and 3 for the first time (around 2014 or so?) The atmosphere of the original games is phenomenal, especially Thief 1... it was everything I had hoped it would be, and more (even though I got there really late!) Anyway, so I was hoping to find more games similar to Thief when I stumbled across an article describing the best "freeware" games on the internet. I looked at it for a while, wondering if this fan project--like so many others--was incomplete or tricky to set up, etc (yes, I can be incredibly lazy that way.) I kept reading about it occasionally, and only finding positive reviews/comments, so I was eventually convinced to try. And of course, I've no regrets!
  22. I think it might be fair (if still a bit smug) to direct that statement toward other users. My comment, though... "I want dat Thie5".. was intentional satire/parody. Honestly.
  23. My good man, have you played the Thief games or the Dark Mod? I think that would be an unusual thing to have someone who read about/likes the idea of the games, but never played them.
  24. What kind of "religion" do the Builders follow? Just wondering, at any rate
