  1. Audacity has an options button right by the save button when you go to export it will ask you only what quailty you want between 1-10 defaulting to 5. Whatever happens and has already been said here keep the original wavs in the archives at the very least if not just putting them in the mod. Always keep the wavs. You can and probably should flac them up at 8 compression factor to losslessly compress but do not throw away the fidelity.
  2. People let me tell you having played what I think is only about 10-20% of this this is a smooth and beautiful mission. I keep taking screenshots and not just because I'm documenting for beta-testing it more because there is alot of beauty here. And as I said one of the most impressive things is how smooth things are too no hangups on architecture or with hard to frob loot in containers... and so far lots of story too which I love!
  3. If it'll get you mapping again... I say "hell yes," I am the official X2010C host and the theme is "The Thief Who Stole Xmas From The Rich And Gave It To The Poor" Kick Off: Now. Deadline: Xmas Eve. No exceptions. Can't meet it, no big deal it's just a contest a little light fun. Restrictions beside some semblance of adhering to the theme: None. Maximum entries per author: None. In Grand Celebration of 1.03! ...and Xmas
  4. I don't believe 10,000 people could rool up and download a FM by a 5 year old and run away and write a scathing review that will read be read by lots of people. But lets say there are. If there are 10,000 people who would do that and they all have lots of people (say 10 just each) who listen to them then we have found 100,000 supreme idiots and this is a good thing because now we have in one fell swoop eliminated all the very biggest idiots in the world from ever worrying their little heads again about TDM and not feeling comfortable until someone grabs ahold of their little hands and tells them what the character they are playing is called and why it isn't Gewhet!
  5. IMO, the "statement" and nb's story say nothing at all about TDM. There is no "trouble" with TDM being an open toolset. It is a great thing not trouble at all. And as for the guy who thinks he is a wizard for noticing a window conflicting with a support beam he too can get over himself... or probably not come to think of it. Pandering to ridiculousness is pandering to ridiculousness. If there are people at ttlg who insist on having an official character and an official campaign so they can feel comfortable in their Official UnderRoos they should not hesitate to get busy with it and take all the time they want. I like the idea of having many campaigns and many FMs created piecemeal or episodically or individually, in teams or by one person... But I do not want to see all the TDM team and star mappers tied up in the creation of some grand campaign.
  6. This may well be true but as a player I will vote for Sotha's philosophy of concentrating on making the gameplay fun rather than tweaking things endlessly. TDM looks great to me. If FM builders are up to it and want to make some eyecandy though I'd rather see a new painting or tapestry than an overly detailed handrail built with hours of brush work in other words.
  7. If they could somehow slither maybe incorporating the slick fix grayman has worked on like snakes which I recently mentioned that would be really cool. Intelligent light adverse serpentthings.
  8. I like the idea semiexpressed here. Enough with the zombies anyway it was as NH said the Haunts that really were what was cool about Thief monsters. I'd like to see those improved here but nothing really will ever stand up to the Join Us Now! So hopefully another completely not overused or entirely original monster will be brought to TDM. And for gods sake I'm not talking Vampires. Somewhere back there there was mention of creatures or humanoids who could see and been seen only in the dark or something.
  9. As I look at the roadmap even though it has been mentioned not to rely on it it is very encouraging to me 4 tasks with each one assigned or acknowledged by 4 different team members and best of all greebo is working on the updater which is such good news for the updater and the future of updates!
  10. Huge! Should be a great improvement for TDMv > 1.03!
  11. Would snakes be harder or easier to model and animate than four legged things?
  12. I read somewhere that it reads all the pk4s and loads them in alphabetic order one overriding the previous. So that if you want something to end up s"sticking" you should put it in a pk4 with the name Zzzanzibar.pk4...
  13. sounds_chest_wood.txt File attached here as "sounds_chest_wood.txt" which is really just a renamed "sounds_chest_wood.pk4"...
  14. I consider it a fine addition! Viva La Difference!
  15. As far as I'm concerned you can have a bazooka a cell phone and a pet monkey in an optional pk4.
  16. Well, sitting out here you know it automatically seems the best thing you could be working on. And not just because we want things (:ph34r:1.03:ph34r:) yesterday. Yes yes that's all true. But also I think getting a sleeker tdmupdate is honestly the best thing you can do. It'll foster a good feedback loop for the coders and it'll also give those who do modeling and textures and other asset creating and tweaking a more immediate feeling of "ah there I did that, and there it is in action!" accomplishment.
  17. Maybe this side note is the key to your troubles describe what you have done.
  18. Oh. Okay I thought there were alot of those that didn't pan out from the VC and figured you had really heard something. Sorry to interrupt.
  19. A brief interruption of the moddb discussion to ask nbohr1more what he was talking about the other day addressing Winter? Rather than PM because maybe lots of people want to know.
  20. Mine goes "darkmod/fms" not "fms/darkmod" The "darkmod" folder goes in the "doom3" (or "Doom3" or "Doom 3"...) folder and "fms" goes in that "darkmod" folder. Oh, and then the FM pk4s go in the "fms" folder when you download them.
  21. That is exactly the spirit I was intending. I didn't call it a bad hack I said it was starting to sound like a bad hack. Only because it was now becoming a situation where a growing list of scenarios was having to be complied and anticipated so that each one could have its exception. I believe this is often a point at which what I have said needs to be at least considered. Really not trying to raise any blood pressures just trying to get that frim understanding Well at this point I feel a little like I'm doing exactly what I don't want to to do which is distracting you guys. I'll "table" all further questions for now and hope to get a better understanding if you have the time and inclination to get back to me.
  22. Thanks NEw Horizon. So the interleaved thinking is entirely a TDM hack or just the adjustabilty? What I'm trying to understand is that while Doom 3 AI do get killed quicly more likely because of the nature of the game it can't be that it would not ever have been noticed and been an issue with all the millions of D3 sessions that thousands of D3 players have played. Sure it is a very different game and a very different set of players for the most part and for that it is conceivable that none of the D3 crowd ever took notice but its seems more unlikely than likely. Unless this interleaved system is TDM only.
