  1. http://www.planetdoom.com/ I emailed them earlier today, about us. Some guy I have on MSN was moaning that we weren't mentioned but Jedi mod always was.   2. Well we need to document it somewhere. I wouldn't mind being the one to write up the final docs, I just need to see a record of the desicions being made in the forums. Since those posts have been deleted, maybe we need to discuss it one more time. I know I just agreed with the Gem without a compass, but if we just settle for that gem&compass combination that I think you're talking about, I'd be happy to just have the topic finalised. I would really like to see a pre-rendered one like oDDity was talking about. His pre-rendered stuff looks phenomanaly better than any real-time rendering could. It sounds like we lost the posts where we made a desicion, so I think it needs a little discussion, one last time.
  3. I vote for no tilting. If I'm facing upward and confused about which way the compass really means, I can always look forward again, no big deal. I have to sympathise with TYROT about not having a compass at all on the HUD. I can't remember the last time I intentionally selected the compass as an item in T2. Only the odd occasion when I'm truley lost and am carefully studying the map and my surroundings to get a bearing on where I should go. Maybe we should keep it as an item, like in T2. (Yeah I've changed my tact, but that's what discussion is for ) I also vote against the ambient sound to replace the lightgem. Surely the lightgem is tried and true - simple and practical. Why do we need a replacement? Sure, you aren't MEANT to be in bright light much, but the fact is that all sounds must overlap, whereas the lightgem HUD item only overlaps a tiny portion of the screen. If you are straining to hear if there are guards footsteps approaching from afar and happen to not have shadows around you, the ambience would drown it out (I have the T2 ambient music turned down to less than half of normal volume). Conversly, if you are straining to see something tiny in the distance, even if the light gem is obscuring it, all you have to do is move the screen a bit.
  4. dear TEAM it s good to keep the core of Thief but it doesnt mean that we are only limited with them..We can come up with other wise tools... We shouldnt make a WARMACHINE I mean he is a damn thief. More weapons makes him more annihilator type of guy..I remember there were times i was cheating the spirit of Thief in T3. I was killing everyone with everything..This was not good. I should have played so much SNEAK based .But HEY! i had many weapons in use and im oldie FPS shooter, my insticts making me Shooter if i have the weapon. . So we really can give the Fans the mines..but we can improve it. We can change the Mine's structure, I mean Same Mine but different usage in different condition. I was in Kosovo for 6 months for a video documentary and Nato army stuff. I have seen that MINE thingy and how actually hard to make it work and once it works how hard to make it stop...It s so serious device, it s not a joke that you can put around and wait for an idiot to step on and blow himself up.. And if you ask my personal opinion the LAST thing for a thief to use is MINE. with this shape and condition...Especially to put a mine in front of guard almost ridicolous.. In the game of SOUND ...it s totally nonsense. I remember i was even throwing those MINES!! What the hell that SOUND was going i dont know..Im not against the idea of MINE-like thingys but this kind of MINE really its not mine! We can come up with small devices (I loved the shape of GIMG' design. i think it s so useful if it s small in the game..) Even we can make magnetic small mines little bigger than a button... So my last opinion let s keep the MINE but make it different.. best
  5. I'm no expert on Zbrush though. Maybe it was becasue it was using local space instead of tangent, the normal maps were totally messed up. Which 3d app are you using, I'm sure there will be a normal map pluging for it. THe ATI normal map plugin has a plugin for Max, Maya and XSI, and there is already a normal map plugin based on the ATI one for Lightwave. Yreah, it would be nice to add all those uber details in Zbrush though and then norma;l map it. Maybe I should look into it a bit furthur, or you could make a post on the pixologic forums asking if you can make tangent space N-maps compatible wioth doom.

  7. I see your normal mapping vid (very cool, btw), but I'm not seeing the character modelling one today. I saw it last night -- I was thinking since it was only 12MB that you were still uploading -- but now it's not in the folder Great job on the normal mapping vid. If I ever get my hands on Lightwave, it'll be cool to try.
  8. I've discovered better compression techniques now anyway, it doesn't look as good, but it's smaller. TYROT, I'm uploading a normal mapping tutorial to the FTP now, also it shows getting the object into doom. It's not as good quaity as the last one, but it's only 4MB.

  13. I would say the second picture that you posted. Just the right size I think. Large enough to be manacing, but not so large that they couldn't be domesticated. Okay, I've really got to get out of here. I've been meaning to get out the door for the last 15 minutes, but I get distracted by these great models.
  14. Just thought I would show you all what I was up to over the last week. I've replaced difficutly levels in Minimalist Project 1.3 with Playstyles. The fonts still aren't finished, but since I've gotten a good chunk of them done I'll just pick at them until finished.

(/TheDarkMod/models/Finished Game Models Only/Furniture/shelfs/bookshelf1.ase ""/bookshelf1_d.tga ""/bookshelf1_local.tga) those tgas are 1024x1024 - so everything together is bigger than 6mb...the 56k users will like that the finished game models directory is ok so far, but we should keep the same structure. here's the thread with the structure.   16. dear oDDity and Sparhawk actually i was checking the almost every arrow image in the google search..There are hundreds of arrows with different structure.especially old days ...I can make it bigger. I was trying to make something in the middle bu sure i can make them bigger and i made that bow yes little bit eastern style. Yes you can call it horsebow but i have seen in many ancient paintings that they were also using this kind of bow too in some tribes in europe...But not that much common.. But im not saying we should use them as a weapon in the game. I was even thinking to put this bow in somekind of merchant's house.. as a prop....Or a guard's room as a war memory item..you know.. Because in the game we should use more gothic bow for our animated characters. But i think i ll be modelling little bit more detail on that one.... And i think we should model different arrows for each fraction what do you think? Cuz as far as i learned archers are totally insane with the style of their bows and arrows.. So i think it would be nice to see all kinds of different bows around.. and the type of arrows. The spikey one for cutting strings ropes. In many sea wars and other circumstances archers were using it to cut strings ropes.. We can even use it i n the game..think about this level .our Thief should rescue someone from execution. I mean he has to make a perfect shot with this arrow in order to cut the rope...So that arrow is in some merchant's house.so this can be a side mission.....i mean im just giving an idea..dont turn red! instantly! You see firearrow below.. And normal arrow for lightshields. And the last one (the bottom) is especially for horses and very heavy armour. I was checking the size of the body structure somehow all of them was same. Just the tops are different. Probably in battle they were using different ones for different section of enemy armies.. best...

In archer history web pages saying that archers were using different arrows for different purposes. I mean that big one for horses..the other one for cutting the ropes and strings... mmmm strings....... strange....very strange.......indeed... best.... yes... .........mmmm...best.....beast may be......could be......ye...should be (last note...at the very corner of the bow you may see little problem..well i see that too...That leather part will be more tightly connected to the bow.....Do NOT worry...look at me..am i worried?...no....i mean .. i m not worried..OK. i can fix it..Dont! push me...ok..I said..im not worried...goddamn it!dont look at me like this..voices...voices...voices....)(*) (*) extendomodellia(latin): a common psychological problem among modellers. This sickness especially show itself after sending a screenshot and realizing a problem over there...Some extendomodellias shows anger, sensitivity to some polygonal errors... also has been reported that under radiosity renders with the lack of "fprime" they can get easily suicidal. Of course we call those dumbasses "suicidalrendercies". I've been hoping and praying for years that EA would make a new M.U.L.E. game (still the best and most fun economics simulator ever made) but it was made back when EA was just a bunch of guys who loved making games, before it went corporate, so that wish is very unlikely EDIT: I dunno why my copy was bugged, but i could never get the last puzzle peice in impossible mission, i know others had the same problem. "Stay awhile, stay FOREVER! Ha Ha Ha".... sigh.

  24. Hi Atti, Just looked at your newer pictures. The weapons are quite decent. We are going to need to have some weapons modeled soon, actually, and some plants as well. If you've got some free time to dedicate to the mod, we're happy to have you. edit: You should have access to the team forums now.   25. With the Imperium and now Thief 2X in Beta, it feels like the Dark Engine is gearing up for a graceful last hurrah. It's going to show us all what it can do.
