  1. They are also missing in this important tutorial: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/...Getting_Started It would also be great if there was 'Design Tutorials' subcategory.
  2. No, because the "tutorial" category tags were missing in that article. It should be listed now.
  3. I could not find this tutorial here: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/Category:Tutorial Is that because it's WIP?
  4. Well, it probably just needs a mention of preference really, not removing. I'll try to come up with a good comment, if I can remember my wiki login... Edit: Done. Just a simple note to clarify.
  5. No, this was introduced after releasing Thief's Den. There is a short abstract here: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/..._Light_Textures and here: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/Virtual_Darkness However, this needs code support to function correctly, so the PK4 released with Thief's Den won't cut it.
  6. I've got a bunch of stuff on my plate at the moment, but once I get around to learning how to use the Wiki, I'll edit it out. Or someone else can in the meantime. Won't hurt my feelings any.
  7. Just to repeat one small concern I once commented on this: the 'trimming' step is unnecessary. It adds extra work, and in fact those misaligned points complicate the geometry and risk problems (they could be snap aligned of course). Ultimately, the compiler will trim the unneeded/unseen surfaces away. Since it's on a wiki, users might assume it is mandatory.
  8. I can handle the upload, no problem. Sooner or later you'll get the hang of SVN anyway, so that you can upload them yourself. I have a few SVN articles for you on the wiki to get you started (linky) - no need to read through it right away, but it's definitely something you need to master when working on The Dark Mod. Springheel, can you jump in here?
  9. Download links would be great, although I think we could go ahead and take you through a short tutorial of how to upload these textures into our repository. I don't know if you've read the wiki tutorials yet (i.e. http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/...to_The_Dark_Mod), but I can guide you through the process, if you're ready. I'd be happy to see the ones you posted above in our repository. I'm not sure what you mean, I didn't talk about manor houses...? Do you mean which setting the stained glass textures should fit in?
  10. Cool, thanks for doing that! I started uploading the images to the wiki for you but got seriously bored after the first 9... Anyway, you can look at the changes I've made to get an idea of how to do it for the rest of them, it's pretty straightforward.
  11. You can upload them to the wiki directly, there is a link on the left side. http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/...to_your_Article Oh, and thanx for digging them out!
  12. The spiral staircase entry is missing images no longer! http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/Spiral_Staircases I'd prefer it if someone found a place to store the images. I've only got so much FTP space to play with, and this eats up a good little chunk of it.
  13. Yep, it was released just a little while ago http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122490 If anyone doesn't know this is part 2 of the Circle of Stone and Shadow Thief II Fan Mission campaign. It follows up where Cosas left off after Gathering at the Inn. I won't get into details, I have yet to play it (hopefully tonight). I was a part of this time quite awhile back and can say what I saw of the terrain in MissionX it is a pretty cool layout. I am very happy that my work will finally be released. I modelled the main characters (Raputo, Cloud) something like 4 or 5 years ago. At the time it was a pretty big deal for me and some of my first completed characters. AnarchicFox (I believe) did the skins so they should be looking really nice. I also did quite a bit of furniture and a few small items. Anyway, I figure anyone here would love to play this one but might've missed the announcement.
  14. I started a thread about them almost a year ago: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showtopic=6754 Apparently, these items are on your ToDo-List.
  15. Wow, that's very cool. Are you sharing? Here's the wiki article: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/Spiral_Staircases
  16. Here you go: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/...exture_Tutorial
  17. I've lost my acess to TDM resources and team forums, so I can not check these spiral stairs... But... what's the best method to build monster clip walls that would outline round surfaces (e.g. walls around spiral stairs or tower walls)? The one described in spiral staircase tutorial? (Unfortunately, there's no screenshots there now.)
  18. Yup, there are a good few of us steadily working on stuff, posting in the internal forums about issue and things. Between us and the more official main mappers, there should be a good strong handful of cool missions ready for the mod release (probably around next summer)
  19. You're welcome. There are still a few steps left to go before the model is actually ready, but at least you have your first result. I was thinking that this conversation should perhaps be moved back to the public forums - I believe it could be quite instructive for others. What do my fellow team members think?
  20. The more the merrier I guess. It's better if you don't duplicate existing content too much of course - information which is not covered elsewhere on the wiki is more valuable than information which is already. Yeah. They used to be on imageshack... This is why I ask people to upload their images directly to the wiki!
  21. The browser seems to be smart and strip out the ! at the end of the link. I added a redirect on the wiki, so it should work now
  22. Probably the player start is still selected. press "ESC" to deselect it. Have you read the tutorial on the wiki, I think it covers the basic steps. Edit: Here it is: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/...uide_Start_Here!
  23. Hi Jerboa, I was on vacation or I would have chimed in sooner. I think other people have been doing a good job of (over) loading you with information, but here's more. Don't worry about shadowmeshes or collision meshes right now. Models work fine without them in the short term and it's not hard to add them later. I made models for about a year before starting to add SMs and CMs. You need to worry about the basics of modelling and texturing right now. The models you are displaying are FAR too low poly for a modern engine like D3. The nooses in particular look extremely blocky and low poly. You should definitely read this page of our wiki: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php/...o_Model_for_TDM You will definitely need to learn how to uvmap, which is tricky but there are some great tutorials out there. This is a really good one for beginners (I found it very useful myself when I started): http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/tutorials/...ping/index.html Don't get too panicked about renderbumps and normalmaps--they can always be added later and don't always need to be created with highpoly models (though that's ideal). If you have specific LightWave questions, let me know. I'm not an expert, but I remember a lot of the things that caused me problems when I was first learning it.
  24. Yes I think you can just register at the wiki - either it works automatically, or some admin will get notified and set you up.
  25. I actually just got a deviant art account, you can check mine out at http://happycheeze.deviantart.com/ But if I were to use that special upload, do I need to have a special TDM wiki account?
