Thief 2 No Worky.

I upgraded from GF3 (Asus) to GF6 (POV) and now thief 2 wouldn't run for me, it crashed when I would load a map. I checked around some and found a cfg file that had something about this:

 

;Some video cards may not work properly with Thief 2

;including the intel 810 and the nVidia RIVA 128.

I did what it told me and Thief would run again, but the visuals were terrible. There were several bugs. Anyone know how to deal with this?

Not sure, I've never come up accross that particular problem. Might be best to visit http://ttlg.com/forums and check the FAQ. If someone else has experienced the problem, it's likely there.

I fixed it, I downloaded beta drivers from Nvidia and the game works great agaion.

Excellent! It's bizarre how many different things can throw a game off and make it crash. Congrats!

I found normal skill to be a bit easy, they have a peculiar ability to not see me even if I am not hidden, so I started in Hard instead. now that was quite a step up for me. It's fun though.

Thief 2 doesn't have the tutorial! Me like to smack the guard in the tutorial in Thief 1 over and over again! Scream you moron, scream in pain!!! *evil laugh*

Yeah, I think we all have fond memories of the first time we realised we could beat someone to death with the blackjack. Mine was one of those hammerite priests, and I had to keep hitting him or he'd have enough time to cast his spell and kill me. Something had to give eventually.

I'm playing through T2 again now also, and I just wanted to mention how much of a pain it is to jump to that high crate with the rope arrow in Shipping & Receiving. It's even more of a pain to do it without alerting anyone... had to settle for a minor alert from the guy on the ground 'cause he caught a glimpse of me slowfalling down. But to get my hands on a rope arrow again, it was worth it.
