Yeah, If the Purah map is the one I'm thinking of it's pretty cool setting, though small and not alot to it anyway. Was trying to make a new AI type for it to but that's so tough in Dromed.

To be honest, still having hard time getting the damn thing to work... DDFix doesn´t seem to work with Win7, and i have nVidia card, so i´m afraid i will need some really old drivers, so i have to boot my old WinXp and go through all the drivers sweeping and so on...

err. tried 163.75, 169.21 WHQL, DDfix on winXP, nada...

Seems forceware is the problem here, as game crashes (black screen, have to kill the process) after playing starting video and entering first level...

 

Please, any suggstions ? Which forceware do you use with XP and nVidia ?(8800 GTS)

Sorry I can't help. I just used Tafferpatcher which optionally provides the various patches and fixes in one. Initially I couldn't get anything to work after a couple of tries. A few months later I tried again and it worked. Dunno if I used some different options. Not sure how to tell what options I chose. I don't even understand half of what it does.

 

I'm using Vista and an Nvidia card (I can't see how to tell which drivers) and Thief 2 seems to be working fine, videos, menus, game, etc.

I have the latest Nvidia (9800GT) drivers on XP and the Thief´s are working fine. Did you patched the Thief.exe with ddfixGUI.exe ?

sure i did, it says file succesfuly patched, but wont run. in fact, i tried everything mentioned in all those old threads at TTLG like safe texture manager and stuff. must be driver related, or at least, last time i was going through this misery, a certain driver did the trick. i am going through any drivers mentioned at different forums... crapshooting.

tafferpatcher... T2 only. Generally, T2 is more recent HW friendly than T1, even the DDFix seems to be intended for ThiefGold, not TDP v1.33 which i have...

not giving up yet, but sure it eats up lots of time... hey man, that thief is stealing your time ! :-)

Oh, you have not the Gold-version. But some FM´s are for Gold only, but there were patches. I think, I´m not sure, there is also an 1.37 patch for your version.

Do you have access to a Torrent-program? I think in your case it´s OK to download Thief Gold, it´s hard to find these days and if you already have Thief1...

Nevermind, i managed it to work finally. The trick was set 1024x768 resolution in ddfix, as my native res. makes nVidia driver to crash in Thief. Interesting, this did first TDM beta too

mmm... interesting, because that's what I went for in the end but I was just guessing so thought not worth mentioning. Now I'm wondering if that's why I had problems before.

i bet on it, if you have nVidia. DDFix is by default at 1280x1024 (or does autodetects monitor resolution) so if you dont change it to that x768 game wont run.
