Dark Radiant not working ...on Windows 8

Well I have tried the Win8 Dev Preview. Doom 3 is working fine and Dark mod too .

I only have problems with Dark Radiant (windows not updating, brushes not shown...), on Windows 7 disabling Aero did the trick but it seems you can't deactivate Aero in Windows 8.

 

Too bad because W8 is working quite nice for an alpha version.

Are you using a shortcut to disable it or are you disabling it from inside DR's preferences?

 

And nVidia graphics?

In DR preferences or the in W8 "Personalization" menu, and yes nvidia

Have you tried disabling nvidias threading optimizations ? Seems to be that which 'breaks' the buffer that the desktop manager expects to contain the final composite.

I'll try talk to nvidia devrel and see if they have any reasonable suggestions. My contact there is back in academia so getting things looked at is less than quick :/

I have set it now in the profile of the nvidia control panel, now I don't have to change it every-time.

I've got threaded optimization disabled by default all the time. After all, it is the recommended setting in the driver, if I remember correctly. That feature is somewhat similar to catalyst AI in a way, that it breaks more than it fixes, judging from what I have read so far.

Opened a support ticket with nvidia about this, had an initial reply to ask for more info - now it just needs to be reproduced internally and passed on to an engineer for fixing.

 

I'll shout if anything changes.
