Ok this is the checker pattern before I pack the UVs, and that's after:

THREE QUESTIONS!

1. Is the checker, after packing, good?

2. Is it different from the upper one besides the size.

3. How much the checker will afect my texture.

And can anyone give me tips on Unwrapping because its the obstacle I'm trying to jump for quite some time. I'm gettin nerves about it.

Havent time to check this one, but Ith seems to be a good tutorial.. Ive got this link in my to take a look list for a loong time, maybe it will help you. Ive got also big problems with understanding unwrap and texture creating proces..

1. Not sure,it might work well, depend on texture.. it should be packed so you can paint it easily and avoid texture seams.

2. Yes, it takes up different Uv space which means you have to paint textures elsewhere on your map..

3. Much like 2. that wide border is what will be on your painted map, The first one goes across that border and that means your textures will repeat. It is also not the same scale.

I advise you make a simple dice, make a quick texture in paint with the six numbers on it, and see how it all behaves on your model with various UVs.

Btw:If you're making this for Darkmod: You dont need to unwrap the high-poly model. Only the low-poly one.

As for normals, high poly is baked onto the lowpoly's UV.

post-1981-0-14628200-1322440431_thumb.jpgNice model, but I'd put more work into the texture, give it some grain and whatnot. felt (modst likely) would be 'fuzzy', the band might be silk. So more spec on band only, none on felt.

You could find photos of the materials and use them for the texture.

Right now it just looks like black and white color.

Typically I think the band would be all the way down against the rim also.

The checker looks good, the main thing is to make sure they are all square and even, which is easier to do with more small checker. (either make UV's big like you had or make custom tex). Then if you shrink them evenly you will still be good.

Looks like you got the basics of uv'ing down. really it just takes practice and doing what you're doing. There are different techniques but I like to break the model down into pieces that are easier to map, then recombine them.

ie: the brim and ver top planar map really easy. The top cylindrical maps really easy.

Dark is the sway that mows like a harvest

Hey @nbohr1morehow come the zombies in The Dark Mod don't have a "resurrection" mechanic to it, similar to how Thief has it?
They're quite a weak creature as of right now, it's merely a walking corpse that slashes you, making attacking them to kill them an actual strategy.
Would be better if they had some cool mechanism to it that truly makes them a danger, such as the resurrection idea itself.

Query: when was the last time a zombie in a video game was unnerving or scary to you? I'm chipping away at my anniversary submission and I've been trying to gather opinions on the subject. I'm perfectly capable of lighting them well, changing their sfx, and creating effective ambience, but I'm worried that zombies at their core are just too overdone to be an effective payoff to the tension I'm creating.
